Couldn’t find a thread on this, just wondered where you can do it and how much roughly.
I’m in the Cheltenham/Gloucestershire area.

Thanks

Not much help to you but there's on at Silloth in Cumbria and he charges £150 for a day on your own bike or £200 for the use of their bandits. (complete with wheelie bars positioned to prevent you flipping)

Not much. I saw a flyer in a bike shop. They are held at the disused airfield in Silloth (solway coast)

'West coast wheelie school' Ive seen their adverts at work, he even left a little card on my bike at work. I promptly chucked it so i donthave the address, but could get it for you tomorrow if you really want it?

Anyone else think that 150 notes is a bit steep for an afternoon trying to wheelie on YOUR OWN BIKE??!!

Ive seen the guy driving his car, I hope thats not how he rides!!

I think a bandit twelve would be a little bit easier to wheelie than my cbr too Confused

Anyway I found the site https://www.northwestwheelieschool.co.uk/

Excellent instruction by Mr Millhouse ... Using fazer 600's with 2 x anti flip bars on back.. the first cuts 50% of power and the second 100%..

10 x WMR members went along on 11/07/05 (see posts and pics) and had a grt day with all of us getting the front of the deck...

Fully recomend this guy as cant say enough about how good it was...

His numbers are 01280 815157 or 07786 635796

as quoted from the bogie man off wmr

Hi all

there is another school at :-
https://www.thewheelieschool.co.uk/ (although there is a .com - but it doesn't seem to work today as somebody else mentions) - my brother msn'ed it over to me today - looks bloody good specially the rental bike bit. - i wouldn't want to drop any bike - specially my own and its all in on the price.

I suppose that makes them pretty confident that your gona have a good lesson in wheelies Wink

sounds good to me!

I went and watched a mate doing the wheelie school at Kemble Airfield a couple of years ago - I'm not 100% sure that they still run it but it looked great fun. They just use part of the road at the far side of the field, it's wide, smooth tarmac and the bikes they provided had the stablizer thing (technical term!) at the back that stops you tipping the bike over.

From memory I think a day was £150 including bike hire which is quite reasonable apparantly. If you do get further details K I might be interested in giving it a go Thumbs Up

What is the point of an anti flip bar (other than the obvious)
it will give you false confidence and you still wont be able to wheelie , just go to a quiet road somewhere and practise until you can do it , I have never heard of one single person who has actually learned to wheelie at one of these schools , I can't believe people are so gullible as to pay somebody £150 - £200 to teach them how to ping a clutch.

If anyone does actually want to learn , come and see me ill save you £200 , my time is free.

i would love to learn how to clutch up a wheelie rather than on the power.
and would rather learn on a 600cc bike rather than a 1200 cos i will be riding a 600 shortly

how can a cut out switch help?
well as you wheelie and get better and a feel for it, the bar is raised, ...and raised.

You need to learn how to get yourself out of trouble first and not to be reliant on gadgets , the back brake is your friend as is rolling off the throttle , these are the basics of wheelying
As soon as i have sorted out a video capture card on my PC so i can upload my videos and edit etc (all mine are on tape)
I will put up a learn to wheely video tutorial ,

yeh...all good in theory but then ya gotta find soemwhere to practice, my insurance is high enough without being copped for dangerous driving etc.

plus i ride a 125...if i rode a bigger bike that could easily wheely...i wouldnt want to 'learn' on it, for fear of trashing it. bearing in mind my bike is how i get everywhere and my only form of transport. i dont really want to flip it. or just bust up the forks.

however if you wish to lend me your bike along with a copy of this video...id be happy to oblige your kind offer Razz

The biggest danger is not fliping over the back it's the tank slapper when you touch down again. If you inadvertantly hit the front brakes while the wheel is in the air it loses it's gyroscopic self straightening effect and start to turn (left/right). When it touches down the trail of the front wheel also has a self straightening effect but it over corrects and in to time your lock to lock

My front wheel has almost always stopped spinning before it touches down , you just keep the bars nice and straight and no problems , although you do get a squeal , a puff of smoke and it leaves a long black line on the road

Its an old wives tale , about the "you must have your front wheel spinning thing"
I steer a wheely by pushing on the foot pegs when im sitting down or leaning if im doing a standup

Ive actually noticed a mate of mine who regulaly wheelys 3 miles between the roundabouts on a local road , his front wheel has usually started to rotate backwards by the time he lands them and thats usually into triple figures on the speedo

just keep the bike and the bars straight when you land them

Gotta admit, I know *how* to clutch wheelie, but I just don't have the balls to. Will give it a go though. Keep trying.

Can easily power it up, but that's a naff way of doing it, imo. The sound of clutching it up is addictive. Wink

i havnt got a full license yet, but spending an extra £150 on insurance wd mean the difference between a fast bike, and a fast bike which has so much power you can wheelie jsut by opening the throttle.

hmmm £150 for a training day or £150 for use of a bigger more powerful bike

as it turns out i dont have any desire to wheely but if i did i know what i would choose.
