Is there any benefit to fitting bigger than standard tyres to a bike?
I ask because mine has 120/70/17 front and 140/70/17 rear. The rear is standard, although I'm being told to fit 150, because I can, and the front should be 110. What do I get from fitting 120 front and 150 rear?
Apart from more rubber
just noticed the profiles should be 80 as original spec, so what do i gain going to a lower profile?

Generally it will balls up the handling. If you want more grip buy stickier tyres.
The profile of a tyre squeezed onto a rim that is too small will be different from what the manufacturer intended and could be so different as to be dangerous.
Personally I wouldn't bother. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another. |
