With petrol prices reaching silly levels now, whats the most fuel efficient production bike available in the UK?

Many people say the CG125 as it does 100mpg. Anyone know of any better ones?

C90 is a bit better afaik, and more fun in the 'scary' sense afaik too.

i'm sure i heard the c90 doing 250mpg?

surely the cg125 does more than 100mpg? Confused my neighbour claims he gets about 150mpg on his cbr125... well 300 odd miles to £10 roughly.

The Royal Enfield diesels must be the most fuel efficient bikes. 120 miles per gallon

I used to get approaching 200mpg out of my Honda PC50. Certainly well over 150mpg anyway, I used to put 2 litres in it approximatley every 100 miles (no odometer so fairly inexact).

H100 gives over 100mpg even if you thrash the tits off it.

i got a gilera dna 125 and from what iv heard about it, its really not a bad bike, i get about £7-ish per 9 litre tank and it lasts me 6 hours of riding (roughly) thats around 10 - 40mph most the time tho, i noticed when i used it for college it would last me about 2 weeks but then id need to fill it up pretty soon after that so id say 5 - 7 hours riding depending on how fast you go and so on.
im moving on in about 6 months though to a different bike (probably a cg125 for a month then take my test and get a 400) as for thos little honda peds, i guess everyone saw the 10 greatest motorbikes in the world (or something like that) out of everything that ped came first because you cant destroy it and itll run on chip fat quite happy
good luck picking a bike Mr. Green Thumbs Up

The CG engine in my bike returns slightly over 100 mpg being thrashed pretty much everywhere. Smile

Describing your fuel consumption in £ per mile isn't all that good a way of judging it though. There are huge differences in the fuel prices across the country. Quid a litre in some remote parts of Scotland now.

Used to cost me £10 to go from Edinburgh to Aberdeenshire and £14 to go from Aberdeenshire to Edinburgh when I was at college (the GPZ would go door to door on almost exactly a tank and yes, it used to cost just under a tenner to fill the tank of a GPZ500s to the brim only six years ago).

I used to get around 100MPG from my V50, and on occasion, I've managed to get the same sort of return from the GN250, which usually returns around 90mpg around town, and 100mpg on the open road.

Does anyone know how to convert between mpg miles per litre?

Honda VFR800fi
I get over 200 miles to 18.5 litres

=> 10.8 miles per litre

or (I think) 49.0mpg

Which is better than my last 2 bikes (bandit 600 and gpz500)

Nothing great there, but for a motorway capable bike seems good enough.

I would give up 70% of the performance (so long as it achieved an easy, steady 90mph) for double the fuel economy.

Anyone know where you can test drive a diesel yet?

i find it interesting that the vfr800 gets better fuel economy than the gpz500.

i had thought i cdnt justify getting a vfr750 if its fuel economy was less than a gpz500 but now...

but maybe its cos you are spending a lot of time at 90mph

The CG125 was ace, I had one for a couple of months, my commute is about 9 miles round trip.

I could do a month on £10 of petrol.

If I ever get another job further away, I think I will get another one.

Would a CG125 be OK doing a 60 mile round trip every day?
Conditions would be A and B roads only at 50-60 mph if possible.

Thumbs Up It would be fine. Just don't let it run low on oil. Dual carriageways are possible, but hard work.

The 200 miles figure is general driving (not really hooning). At motorway speeds (80-90) I have had 251 miles from 19 litres.

I would bet a long walk to a petrol station that I would not see under 180 miles with full on hooning. I guess when I get around to using a dyno I will see how far it really goes.
