So come on, if your bike looked like this:
https://www.inspired-dreams.com/bcf/cbr.jpg

Bearing in mind you won't be able to afford to repair the damaged fairing for at least a few months and the damaged clutch cover even longer...

And someone agreed to straight swap for this:
https://www.inspired-dreams.com/bcf/ninja.jpg

What would you do?

I'd repair the CBR. You're bike's so much better than what's on offer, if it was a 2005 ZX636, with similar modification, well, that'll be a tougher decision for me.

Both are gorgeous bikes, it depends how much the damage on your bike bothers you really, the 636 is nicely modded though and Harris cans sound Drooling

What a decision.

I think the CBR will be quite costly to repair, especially the paintjob. I can see you being the kind of guy that wouldn't be able to easily overlook such damage on your baby.

I'd probably swap, but that's me.

I presume the fairing damage isn't stopping you riding it?
Ditto the clutch cover (seen small holes been long-term repaired with chemical metal and gaffa tape (!) before, without trouble).

So, in the end it boils down to - do you think the looks of an uncrashed bike more important?

Personally, I'd keep the 'crashed' bike, then I wouldn't be so worried if I crashed it again, as I'd relatively be losing less value.

The Kwak is very nice, but as I've mentioned, the CBR just knocks spots off it, irrespective of addons. Why's your mate wanna swap his Kwak?

CBR is back on the road again now and runs quite happily, but what I want a bike for has changed since I bought it. I want to go longer distances now and I want to go there with my fiancee on the back. The CBR is crap for long distance 'cos the seat is about as soft as a plank of wood. There's also a psychological thing going on too. I know which bits are bent and scratched and I've got an opportunity to swap out and go to something that may crunch more miles without aches and pains and something that looks mint.

I'm hopefully gonna ride it at the weekend, so I guess that'll be the decider...

He's a modding fanatic apparently. The next step on the Kwak is engine internals and stuff and he doesn't want to go that far. He's also a big Sete fan and wants a CBR600RR Sete rep.

Make sure it's a long ride. I don't expect it to be much more comfortable than the CBR.

With the sort of money either is worth you could easily get a decent distance bike as well as a decent 'fun' bike.

Cant be a hard choice can it?

Hi

I am not keen on tarted up bikes, which puts me off the ZX6R, but ignoring that then yes I would go for the swap.

By the way, is the rear wheel on the CBR buckled or is it just the rim tape?

All the best

Keith

Could be, but the bit slightly further round (where the band around the "silencer" points to) which does not seem to be obscured by does not look curved.

All theb est

Get the Zx before he changes his mind. My only question to him would be...WHY?? IMO the ZX is a much better bike than the 03 CBR even without the mods.

Well one of the main reasons is that he wants a Sete replica bike 'cos he's a big Sete fan. Not sure a Sete rep ZX would quite work... Laughing

why does he want a striaght swap, he must have a reason, you want to as since the off you dont think it looks so good so he must have some sort of reason.

just worth a mention as you dont want to swap and found out the reason while he wanted rid while your riding it home!

The reasons he gave me were "wanting a Sete rep" and "nothing left to mod bar the engine".

We're meeting up and going for a ride together on each other's bikes before we do any swapping, so if I'm not happy with it, I won't do it.
