hi there,

I believe last time i failed on vital life savers, i failed to look left as i entered a roundabout (or at least i didnt make it obvious enough)

Im a little nervous about tomorrow, im using a Kwak ER-5 and tbh i find the position of the gears very odd!! i have to keep my foot almost vertical to change, and i got cramp in the lesson lol

good luck with the test.
i know that its hard but try and stay relaxed. try not getting flustered and show the tester exactly how in control of the bike that you are. think that is one of the things that they look out for. being in control and being confident.
good luck

I just put some pointers down on another posting. If you're still up reading the forum I'd add another tip - get some kip in Exclamation

Good luck

Good luck Sam!

I agree 100% with those tips.

While there are specific things you can fail on, examiners are human and they are looking at the whole ride. A good rider can still fail on a U-turn, but you sometimes see posts on here where the candidate's given reason for failing would only count as a minor fault - so maybe the ride as a whole wasn't convincing.

My tip, to go with smoothness, is DON'T RUSH!!

By that I don't mean ride slowly, I mean make your lifesavers an obvious part of your riding, rather than a snatched glance; when you're in slow traffic, if you make a decision to put your foot down make it positive; and they like slow speed control in general.

Do lifesavers even where you're absolutely certain nothing is there - because that's what they're for. My instructor slipped alongside me at a roundabout without me knowing to point out poor positioning - I only saw him when I did a lifesaver just as I was about to pull away.

Also - if you come to a stand, there's no harm in double-checking that you're in first - better than stalling. Just remember to cover a brake while you do it.

Thankyou for the positive feedback guys, all of these tips are greatly appreciated!

I have my test in about an hour and a half, i`ll let you know how it went when i get back! ( either that or i`ll be ringing for insurance and taking my first solo ride out into yonder hills )

Thanks

Sam

Hi guys Smile

Yep, i passed! Thought i had failed, and infact if my examiner had been a little more fussy i may well have done!

5 minors, but whatever, im just glad its all over!!

Took my 98 Bandit 600 out for a long ride today, to me it is incredibly fast lol I was riding around thinking how quick it was when i suddenly realised i was only revving up to around 6000 in each gear hehe. When i started to take it to 11 in each gear i`ll be honest, it was pulling hard on my wrists Smile

p.s To me the front end seems a little twitchy compared with the bandit i look my last test on, its hard to describe really, maybe it needs new tyres (there are some nice chicken strips from the previous owner, and i would like to make my own)

Anyways, thanks for you advice and support, its good to finally be in the club.

Sam
