Clutch slipping ?

Hi what exactly is this Confused

if i sound dumb by asking well , yes i am ha and dont say its when you slip the clutch because i still dont know what that means Razz

What exactly do you do when you slip the clutch and what does it do?

I expect you do slip the clutch without realising it.

It's where you're holding the clutch around biting point, and so the two plates are slipping against each other - so only part of the power from the engine is being transmitted to the gear box.

Every time you pull off you slip the clutch slightly... and when you're travelling slow, doing U-turns etc you are likley to be slipping the clutch.

If you ever watch 2 strokes racing, sometimes when coming out of the corners you will hear the revs go super high then drop back down a bit, they are just pulling the clutch in slightly so it is slipping. This allows the engine to get up to peak power rather than bogging down at low revs.

I do this a lot, after slowing down around a corner, and coming back out of it again, i tend to give it too many revs while the clutch is still slipping and then all of a sudden it catches grip and im away... kinda scary... prolly should let the clucth out earlier...

You go around the corner with the clutch in?!!? Or slipping?!?!

You should select the correct gear before entering the corner, then accelerate throught the corner. Smile

Uhmm... prolly not so much on corners but junctions where im waiting to go. Clutch in while i wait, then accelerate while letting clucth out, slips to hell.

Naw, i'd never go round a corner with the clucth in or slipping (not on purpose anyways)...

Doesn't do it any favours mechanicaly to slip the clutch either as it can be too much of a good thing etc.
