He's already won the 125cc world championship, when he was in his teens
Though I have heard talk he was discussing with his bosses about racing in both the MotoGP and 250GP classes on the same day. |

I thought the guy that won it last time was about twenty something? That might not have been motogp though, I think it may have been the aprilia125 race with the powerbikes tour thingy. ____________________ Sweet reggae music. |

Ahh G, you're a PURIST that's what it is.
You're forgiven.
I know exactly what you mean by what you say. But it is maybe more perception than event we talk about there.
I would never be happy wringing the neck of a 600 to get the same performance I get with my 955.
I don't know any of my mates that would do it for any other reason either other than for a bit of nostalga.
And I am not poo pooing smaller bikes. I took a long time to get to what I have and had bucket loads of fun doing it.
I ride with guys using ltr bikes and I had a 600. Yes, I could keep up. But it's much better when you don't need to have the engine screaming it's head off all the time to do it.
I wouldn't watch Rossi on 125s either for the record.
125s or 250s don't break out in a rash of power driven tank slappers like ltr bikes do. Yeeee Haaaaa.....! ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

My 'little bike' was a RS125. I could ride it full throttle on the edge and it always felt secure and AWESOME on the twisties. Like on the way to Scotland last year when I totally scorched my mate on a 600 bandit through a set of about 5 'S' bends in very quick succession. Whilst whistling through there I realised how easy it was to thrash the lttle bike to the edge and how well it coped.
The same cannot be said however for my 'big bike'. Its a CBR600, it rides excellent is quick enough and loves a good thrashing. It just wouldnt go around the twisiest of twisties with my pathetic skills until I had mastered a different type of weight, accelleration, lean etc.
On the 125 I was GOD (or at least I thought so!), then on the 600 found myself to be just some sort of hedge seeking wimp!
Its taken me a year to get to the point I'm at now but took just 5 months to get to a much better point on the RS.
After rambling like that Im struggling to find a point, guess its just that the littler machines are easier to ride fast in my opinion (or feel like you are riding fast), and possibly easier to master for the average bloke. If a man has the natural talent to wrestle a 240hp machine around the track very very very very quickly, then he's not going to struggle taking a step back! ____________________ RS125 > CBR6 > SV650S > ZX636R > GSX1300RZ Hayabusa > 06 RSVR Mille > SV1000S > Street Triple 765 RS |

I would be happier ringing a bikes neck. I have a tuned, race spec suspension zx9 in the garage but have chosen to spend money buying a rs250 to ride on the roads.
If I ride the zx9 at 75% I am going bloody fast without trying. Riding at 90% on the road and I'm staying at ridiculous speeds and it still doesn't really feel like I'm achieving - yes I'm going very fast, but the bike is doing a lot of that.
On the RS250 it feels like I'm actually using that 90% of the bike's abilities, if I am.
For me, the fun in bikes is 'using' them - I don't really enjoy just 'pootling' around and find I can use a smaller bike much more fully.
However, as far as 'laziness' goes, a big bike is very nice - you can just turn the throttle on the motorway and go, whatever gear you are in, you'll still kick that Porsche's arse .
On the track, however, I found I was actually quiker on a 600 than the zx9 - I was happyier to really thrash the 600, while the 900 I was a bit more worried about it kicking back.
However, how this would change if I rode a big bike a few times is another matter.
(Though jumping on an r1 after my r6 at snetterton showed 2secs nocked of my laps times straigt away, but then that's not /that/ muc.h)

Don't get 11 bikes within 1 second of each other in moto GP however . |

I think the only realistic option is for rossi to race a 125 against the litre bikes
If he were to try and race 125's again he would be a bit hopeless as he has now adapted to the bigger bikes. give him a few practise races and he would remember how it was done then probably use the tricks he has picked up since his 125 days to fuck off and leave everybody even more so than usual |
