Hi all, just wanted to let someone know that im now a "proper" (used loosly) biker. Very Happy

I took my CBT and was the only one of 3 to make it out on the road, and pass dispite being the only one in the group with no previous motorbike experience. Im well chuffed now, can you tell? Razz As many people have said how easy it is to pass a CBT i can see where they are coming from, although i wouldnt say it's a garenteed pass or the easiest thing your'll ever do, but if you listen and take on board what the instructor is telling you then you cant go wrong. Also dont be nervous asking questions. If your paying around £80-£95 pounds for it, get everything out of it as you can.

Also i collected my first bike this evening just in time as its now persisting down with rain (thunder , lighting , the lot!)
Its a Kymco Pulsar 125 which is bigger than the yamaha something or other i was on for most the day.

Although im utterly knackard now (and have to be up early for a 2 hour drivin lesson) im itching to get out on my new bike. Think i'll wait for a dry spell first tho Sad

Mr. Green Thumbs Up
Riding home from the cat n fiddle this afternoon, i nodded at a biker on a Leaner bike, anyways i pulled into the next petrol station and after paying, the same chap pulled in and started asking questions about my zxr ( Cool ), he then said that he had never been acknowledged by a 'real biker' before Thumbs Up

Congrats on passing your cbt, ride steady and enjoy the bike Thumbs Up

Thumbs Up Congrats on passing your CBT!

I too had never been on a bike before, and I had to do the CBT over two days, but the second day I was much more confident and out on the road, perserverence is definately the key!

You'll be dying to lose the L plates soon, I was (and have, 2 weeks ago!)

I always found it very nice to be acknowledged by 'real' bikers when I had the L plates on, it made me want to try even harder to become one as well though,

is the Kymco a cruiser style bike?

This is pretty much the bike i have now. I have been told by my bandit 600 riding mate that it has very little power, but for my first bike and having no experience of bigger bikes, its great for everything i need. I can happily get 70mph out of it, and personally wouldnt want to do much more than that on L plates.

I've got the same bike as you Smile
Waiting to do my CBT now and saving cash up for insurance. Managed to get one effectively brand new (march 2005) for 810 with 34 miles on the clock.

Cool to hear you've got a pulsar. I havnt known anyone else to have one yet. you have landed urself a great deal with that bike. 2005 for £810 is great.... i thought i did well with my 2003 for £700

i spent a good few days both looking on the internet and ringing around insurance companies, and managed to get my lowest quote down to £676 and that was with Aquote insurance (norwich union)
If you also have no driving licence (only provisional) and dont have a no claims bonus, you'll probably be looking at roughly the same price range.

Being 22 male and no previous road experience, im pretty much the most expensive thing to insure Neutral

Good luck for your CBT, im sure u'll do fine Very Happy Have you booked it yet? If so, when is it booked?

Haven't booked it yet. Cheapest I have found for the insurance is 300 which is TPO. I'm 18 with no NCB. I'm waiting to get enough money for the insurance and the cbt at the same time.Smile
