Hey folks,

On my second outing on the RSV Mille I noticed in traffic on a warmish day the bikes temp rising to 106 degrees. The manual states the danger zone is 120 plus. My main concern is the fuel i use which is Shell OPTIMAX. Am I right in saying this fuel burns hotter than your average thus an increase in temperature?

Dunno about the fuel, but my SV ran about 90 degrees upto about 100 in slow traffic.

All V-twins tend to kick out a larger amount of heat than most 4's.

If it is sitting steady at that and the fan is coming on, I wouldn't worry. The scales on these temperature guages ar not all that accurate in any case.

Optimax is a higher octane fuel, this means it burns more slowly than normal unleaded and should if anything make your bike run cooler.

My zxr always seems to stay at about a 1/3- 1/2 of the temperature gauge. The fan seems to do a good job when sitting in traffic etc Thumbs Up

Which is kind of my point. My GPZ500s used to sit just below halfway. I put a different dash (from a later model) on it and now it sits at about 3/4. I am pretty sure changing over the instrument panel isn't causing the bike to run hot, and the temperature sender unit is exactly the same between the two models so I assume the problem is with the scale on the guage.
