get a lightly biger alan key imperial would do) and try that, or use a screwdriver that fits the gap...

OR use a dremel to cut a slot in the top...

Use some copper slip next time!

if u do find that u cannot get them out using screwdrivers or a slightly bigger alan key invest in a set of easy-outs. these are very similar to taps( the type u create a thread with) except they are left handed in stead of right and come in too degrees of corseness fine and corse.

First you have to very carefully centre punch the middle of the bolt then drill down the length of it with a slightly smaller drill bit than the easy-out making sure u leave enough meat of the old bolt for the easy-out to bite on. as you screw the easy-out in the left handed cutting works in to the hole you drilled in the bolt untill it bites and starts to turn the bolt as if you were taking it out like normall no need to re cut a new thread and buy bigger bolts just but the save size and pitch bolts again. from one of many shops who normally deal with trade customers but will sometimes sell to the public you never know because you only want a couple of them they might just throw them ur way for thin air.

hope this helps and good look

p.s if you do do this when u drill the bolt take extra care no to go off centre.

Torx sockets work nearly every time for rounded off allen bolts.

You might be easier to just drill the heads off them and undo the stump with a pair of mole grips or by cutting a slot in it after the plastics are off.

i have to agree, i spend a fair ammount of my day removing screws, broken taps from 2mm to 8mm and to be honest you dont want to be using stud extraction tools on anything smaller than an m10+ if its siezed,,, it just wont work, there not made for that.

drill carefully through the center of the head and do what stick wheel says or use torx bits,, they grip most allan heads , also you can hit em in if the bolts ally,,,

Hi

If it is an alloy bolt then you can drill the head off very easily. Steel are a bit more difficult and remember that as you drill the steel it gets hot, certainly hot enough to start to melt the plastic. Not a problem as long as you are careful and give it time to cool down as you go.

Eazi outs are not likely to be much use for a fairing bolt, added to which they have a habit of snapping off and are a nightmare to drill out.

All the best

Keith

If its the bolt right at the bottom (near the footpegs) there are two normal bolts that can be undone with the spanner. Im guessing you are reffering to the left hand panel, the one under the stand as this one gets covered in shit. The fairing bracket will undo.
