Hi all, well, following on from https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=59255 and the possibility of selling my bike, what bike would the BCF Community recommend I should go for?

I fully intend on test riding all the models stated (plus different examples of each).

Please note that I can only buy 1 model - as much as I'd love to start a collection, the things that be won't make this possible (except for the 250s - where a workhorse will be purchased and kept outside in the nearby layby)

Any other similar models I'm overlooking? (I'm not looking for any of the 600s; they're not for me, sorry)

All opinions/experience on said models (plus any addons to the list) would be very helpful.

Thanks for reading.

well i heard that RS250 are really fun as the powerband is really powerfull, a new speed triple yea!! but i dont like the old ones really and orginal fireblades are ok but RS250 looks a lot better, then again RS250 may turn out to be extensice if it goes bang.

Speed Triples handle like poo compared to the 400cc. Someone I spoke to who has the 'Blade you mention rated the 'Blade a lot better for handling etc over the Triple. (She had the Triumph before)

Rs250 would be fun but it's a 2 smoke, and not really one I'd feel confident in having it start and run well all the time.

Now the 'blade ( Cool ). This handles well, a lot more power than the 400, and very reliable. You can get a nice 96+ from about £2,000.

Obviously the 'blade is the best. Very Happy

Craig,

Have you just registered on the NSRWORLD site?

I thought I recognised your username from here!

Get an NSR, you know it makes sense! Claud will tell you they go quite well! Wink

Thumbs Up

Yep Barry, have registered - I did include an NSR in the Poll Options but didn't come through 'sorry server busy atm' message came up. I can't seem to edit the poll options now unfortunately.

Definately researching into the MC21s/28s, I think I prefer them over the Aprillia.

Yeah very nice little bikes they are. Trick. AND Honda! Mr. Green

More power is not always more good (well from what I've heard), so think before you go 120bhp! Laughing

Reason they're on my maybe list - would be fantastic to restore/clean one (with updated suspension set for me). Also, they're the reason I got into biking in the first place.

I see the Speed Triple as being a bold, brash, loud crowd pleaser and personally love its love/hate looks.

The 250s are to further develop my fetish for all things trick, rare and meticulous (and to deck out my garage with a polish floor, HRC Mats, white walls, Snap On tool chest.....)

Dead heat between a Blade and a Triple. Do I go for loud, brash, in 'ya face love/hate looks with a sports-inspired chasis and an unconventional engine, or the restoration of the original sportsbike and meet my childhood dreams?

The 250s (RS and NSR) don't seem to be doing as well - do I need to improve my cornering/riding/maintenance schedule any further - or have I done all that with the RVF already?

Not one to go with the crowd, but I can see an early Fireblade being my next bike. I'm looking for something to restore, clean, learn to ride on but also return all the qualities that I've had with recent Hondas. I presume an immaculate RR-N will turn a few heads; not as many as my RVF, well, I'll have to see how clean I can get one.

I've seen a few going for what appears to be very reasonable money, now I've been riding a few years insurance isn't a problem. The 250s unfortunately have come out of the running. I get frustrated when I don't get a clear stretch of road on the RVF (hasn't got the instant acceleration to make swift overtakes, which ruin my fave country lanes when obstructed), plus I've read into some finer details of 2 stroke reliability - as much as I'd love a piece of pure HRC in my garage, I couldn't live with one.

The Speed Triple isn't out of the equation though - I really need to test one. I quite like the appeal of it not being a sportsbike - I don't feel the need to ride at over 100mph everywhere and I think I'll miss out in some other aspects of biking if I did.

I have made a decision on what to do with the RVF as well (for anyone who's still awake);

If I get offered what I think the bike deserves, I'm sorry to say, but I'll be saying goodbye to the RVF. If it doesn't, well then it stays, but I don't think I'll continue modifying it to any significant extent.

Thanks all for listening (to me whine), I'll update with any info. if anyone can bare my ramblings any longer.

Oh, and if anyone wants to make a serious offer on an expensive as-good-as-they-get 400 sportsbike (possibly) and lives in the Sussex area, just drop me a PM (originally bought it for £3.5k, so it's not going to be cheap).

I think Johnny's BLACKBIRD would look Thumbs Up in your posession. Buy it, it would suit you a treat, i'll even throw in some advanced training free.
