I was just reading that Honda are to introduce airbags o motorcycles. Shocked

From the Daily Record... "Honda have developed airbags for their motorcycles - a world first, according to the Japanese firm. The airbag will be available on the Gold Wing model, which goes on sale next year"

Very Happy

Funny that it's on the big tourer because they hardly ever have any accidents and if they do they're hardly ever fatal (there was a study I saw). The most accident prone and likely to be killed are sports bike riders (not really any surprises there Rolling Eyes ).

I guess Honda are trying out the technology before deciding to fit it to other bikes in their range (much like Mercedes put new stuff on their top of the range cars and in 4 to 5 years the features have made their way down to the ones us normal people can afford).

I could have sworn that I saw some kind of design that had airbags in the Jacket and pants of the rider.

The rider attaches a cable to the bike and if that cable gets tugged suddenly (read: flies over the handle bars), the airbags in the jacket and pants inflate to absorb the impact.

But then again, I could have been dreaming.

Anybody recall anything like this?

I've only ever heard of inflatable jackets.
There are a few designs/makers.
A quick google search gave me these, there may be others...

Arrow Dainese D-Air
Arrow Spidi DPS_03 jacket
