Hi all,

Well, it's time for me to get rid of my GS500, and get something a bit bigger and beefier. I'll soon be commuting 100 miles a day on it, so I am after something reliable, with good fuel economy and comfortable. My GS500 feels a bit 'flimsy' and understandably, not very gutsy, so would be after something 600cc or above. I will have about 3.5k to spend. I've seen I could probably get a decent pre-VTEC VFR800 for around that money; I like the look of them. I also like the look of the newer style FZ6S Fazer. I'd probably have to push a bit higher than 3.5k to get one of those but I could probably do it if I waited a little longer. I'm not sure which to go for, any opinions? Or any other possibilities?

Cheers.

Wouldn't they be a bit uncomfortable? Smile I'm only assuming, can't say I've ridden any.

You could get 2 bikes, a hack and a weekend toy.

For instance 1.5K on something like a 600cc blandit as that would do the miles...be cheap to run etc

The 2K on something like a ZX6R for naughtyness.

If not a VFR750 are probably the best of the bunch of the VFR's I rode Black Knights and found it comfortable LOADS of torque and good handling.

seems a bit of a cliché to reccomend your own sort of bike but bandits make good hacks.

Otherwise a Diversion900 would make a great hack being shaft driven..strong engine and cheap to buy?

Hell yes. Its comfortable Razz

But seriously, a Gixxer 600, 750 or 1000 won't be uncomfortable until 300 miles of constant riding really. Unless the bike doen't fit you well or ache easily.
Speaking from other people experience here.

Got me thinking about sports bikes now Smile I'd had written them off really as I assumed they would be too uncomfortable. A gixxer 600 would be sweet! Although I reckon a CBR600F would be better as it looks like it has a slightly less extreme riding position. Any views on the CBR600F?

I always rent a cbr600f so I can say a fair bit. First of all the bike is comfortable. It doesn't bother me untill after maybe 5hours of riding. It's very use friendly but at the same time if you want to go fast you can twist and go. However, it doesn't have alot of grunt. The power delivery is smooth and it peaks at around 10k rpm. The bike I ride handles pretty good and it's on crap tires so I think if you get some proper tires it'll be great. Let me spare you alot of time and tell you that I recommend this bike.

EDIT: Change that to "I'll pay your flight". Just checked your profile. Embarassed
