Rebuilding the top end on my trusty 1988 XR250, after the motor finally gave up. Re-bored the cylinder and replaced the piston, rings, wrist pin, clips, valves, oil seals, tensioner, guide blade and gaskets at a cost of 200 odd quid and a few evenings of elbow grease. Good as new! Smile

Korn you should attempt gas flowing your ports while your at it. what was actually wrong with the engine anyway mate?

Nicely done! Not only can Korn get stuck in round a track, he's quite happy to get elbows deep in an XR250.

What caused the damage to the piston/bore in the first place? Just the non-seating valve?

yea wish i could rebuild an engine! looks really clean, i helped take a 1.8 fiesta diesel engine apart after cambelt snaped, wish i had done a bike engine, well a 2t and then a 4t would be even better!
