Hey

My exhaust has somehow broke off the back of the bike where it attaches just below the pillion pegs...

I got some pics below

i need to get it fixed somehow to the bike so it doesnt cause anymore damage and i need the bike for getting to school and work!

anyone know how to bodge this one? Sad

i was thinking of string or something but its going to have to be something that is heat proof

thanks
Dan

Maybe you could use string to bodge it, but if you can get the bolt out, put some wire through the hole where the bolt would normally go, and twist it untill its tight, and get down hursts at the first available opportunity.

For a bodge I would either try to get a jubilee clip around it under the bolt and nut, or use some decent wire (something like they use for wire fences).

Sometimes a good hit with a center punch on the remaining bit of bolt will knock the weld nut off, just replace with any old nut and bolt. same if you get a spanner on it and give it a good twist.

Drill the center out of the bolt and use a smaller nut and bolt until you can tap it out.

Not worth riding as it is, your either putting stress on the rest of the pipe or if its a slip on type of fit it might just fall off.

bah just ride it,standard rs exhaust wont break if unsupported.

you havent snapped the bolt, the mount is actually 2 bolts that meet in between the rubber piece, just remove the old broken bits and bolt it in place. Wink

what do you mean by bolt it in place??

the rubber spacer thing seems to have split, so do i just need to replace that thing then?

Nothing seems to be broken its just the rubber thing, i assumed the bolt snaped cos it was in two pieces!

Thanks
Dan

i mean just loosely bolt the exhaust to the hanger, dont do it up tight as the exhaust needs some movement...will be fine till you can get the new rubber part...which incidentally comes with the bolts mounted in place.
