In conclusion of this topic: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=60759

It turned out the power had failed going to the alarm causing the alarm to think it was being tampered with.

It was shockingly easy to get around this.

I am not going to go into detail because of obvious reasons...

Let's just say some wire and solder goes a long way.

Anyone, my alarm is all fixed up and good now and it has left me realising how SHIT datatools alarms are!

Please vote!

Thanks, Ed.

When you say the "power had failed" what exactly do you mean?

The power wasn't getting to the alarm, it failed somewhere along the line.

Did you use scotch grips to tap into the 12v to supply the alarm by any chance?

Datatool alarms are better than the cheap ones off ebay, but no where near the 10x the price that they are and offer less features.

Personally, I'm happy enough with a cheap one off ebay. If someone's knows how to disable a cheap one quickly without it going off too much they probably also know how to do an expensive one as well.

If the power is disrupted the System Three has it's own internal battery which will allow it to throw a mental - it reads it as 'someone's messing with me' and thus sounds the alarm.

I agree that they're not worth the 10x that you can now get cheap ones for, but mine saved my bike from being nicked once so I'll certainly never proclaim them to be shit.

I can bypass any alarm with at most 2 bits of wire and a screwdriver. Most I only need 1 piece of wire and a pair of pliers, some just a pair of pliers. With a little bit more equipment I can do it with no noise at all. If I wanted to throw it into the back of a van and wasn't bothered with driving it, a little damage to the bike and a little noise we'd be looking at 3 seconds on ANY alarm.

The data-tools are as good as the person who fitted it. If I had fitted it your power wouldn't have failed and apart from the alarm box you wouldn't be able to see the alarm loom let alone cable chase it. But then I take between 4 and 6 hours to fit a data-tool.

I can guess the bypass you used which suggests to me the alarm had been fitted using only one of the immobiliser circuits so was not to thatcham standards, if I'm right and you paid to have the alarm fitted complain to Data-tool.

No I don't nick bikes but I am a Data-tool approved fitter and know most of the ways around them and other brands.
