Hi, my bike seems to be running rough as f**k the passed week, surprisingly just after its 4k service.
the idle speed seems very erractic (more so than normal) and cuts out sometimes, even tonight when the bike was warmed up it stalled sitting at a set of traffic lights.
when the bike has been sitting overnight or even just after a few hours and the engine has cooled i'll normally sit for a few mins till the engine temp comes up to about 50c before i set off, but now when i do this the bike seems to shudder at low rpms in 1st gear and i have to open up the throttle a bit more to smooth it out.

to me its sounds like the fuel mixture was changed when it went in for its service and its now running lean (i cant smell fuel)

anyone have any other ideas?

What was done at the 4k service?
My thought at first was...fuel filter or bad tank of gas.

did you use optimax before this problem? optimax requires different jetting as its density is higher.

sounds like a similar problem to me, bike idle seemed jerky and never really settled, it needed warming up evertime i left it for more then a few hours and seemed a bit jerky at low speeds

try giving your carbs a good clean, if your service ppl had it all exposed then some crap could have got in there and be messing things up a bit. does the bike seem to vibrate more then it did before too? this is a tell tale sign that your carbs are a bit out of balance

aaah yeah, well noticed,
you can still give a good squirt of carb clean into the air intake tho, might help stable your idle a bit

it is fuel injected, i've checked and cleaned the plugs but the shuddering at low rpms still remains Neutral

Take it back to the dealership I am sure they fiddle with the mixture at some stage normally after it's run in ?

i had this problem with my Bandit when i first got it, used to stall at junctions in warm weather and always idles rough and still does but it doesn't stall any more... needs the carbs balancing.

My gsxr idles a bit rough, too.. i gave it a wee service not too long ago so it's not plugs, air filter, etc.. again i think it's just the throttle bodies that need balanced.

Btw, i done the TRE mod (DIY style) and it runs much better and is easier to ride in town but still it's no replacement for balancing the throttle bodies.

I'm sure that's all it'll be but i don't know why it would just have started after a service unless they thought they'd try balancing them and messed it up, although it's unlikely.

Fuel injected bikes still need equal vacuum levels and still use butterfly valves to achieve this, hence they still need balancing.

Cheers
