Chain

On a ride out the other weekend, one of the other guys noticed that my chain was making a rattling noise. On closer inspection, one of the links was seized. I've worked some chain lube into the link and it's freed up a bit. I don't know how long it was seized for, and am just wondering whether it's safe to carry on using that chain? Or should I get another one fitted? How much am I talking for a new chain? It's a Triumph TT600 btw.

Generally most chains are now sealed so chain lube only tends to clean the outer surfaces and stops grit getting inside. If it a rivetted chain and its towards the top end of adjustment then you could take the link out

I would probably change it unless it was fairly new, although I'm not sure what problems it might cause, if any.

if the chain is worn but the sprockets are ok, slap a cheap non oring chain on for now then change the whole lot for flashy x ring at a later date.

heavy duty non oring chain will set you back 25 quid or so.
