....to use this helmet again?

Just counting the cost of my off. The helmet was £180, my jacket, £100 (Textile), leather trousers £90 but my boots have survived scuffed and all.

The thing that pisses me off about the helmet is my GF bought it for me as a present for falling off at the start of the year Embarassed and I love it, comfy, no wind noise, looks nice etc....

BUT, it probably took quite an impact. Would you use it again? Is there somewhere I can send it to for a check and repair? Gutted about it Sad

I wouldn't use it, but that's not to say it wouldn't protect you. Would you risk it for the price of a lid?

Get a new one.

tbh mate i wouldnt use it again once it had been marked ...

i re-used my old lid that i came off twice in because it never hit the floor (at least not hard enough to notice ) but i think as soon as it is marked like that id jack it in for a new lid

I agree. Just because you can't wear it doesn't mean you have to throw it. Mate of mine has 6 lids Confused Not that he has come off using any of them.. just.. likes a collection i guess!

It's a Shoowi too eh. B4start. Crying or Very sad

Philosophy:
Think the cost of lighting the candles had you been rubbed out, added up, would've been more than the cost of a new brain-bucket.

Memories: Keep the old unit next to where you keep the bike.

Conclusion:
The f*ckers do work (or not?)

Hmmm with my crash record this year a new Shoei is out of the question, my FM one done the same job in March.

Just gutted more so cuz my GF got it for me and I never paid a penny and now its fcuked! Crying or Very sad

Think a cheap £50 helmet will be my next purchase! I'll wear all my old worn gear till its un-useable too...

Does this look bad?

The jacket is mainly ok, the leather trousers have ripped at the stitching on the left leg....

Think my (now deceased) Know bag saved my jacket...

Hi

If you were certain to not hit the same bit of the helmet on the ground again then it would probably be OK. As you can't be certain forget it.

The visable damage is not the worrying bit. The shell is far stronger than it needs to be for almost any forseeable accident, but the padding inside is a single use component.

All the best

Keith

Remember, a cheap £50 helmet is only good if it fits, if it's not a great fit, it may even make it worse than your shoei.

I crashed in a FM, couldn't afford a Shoei that fitted me at the time, would get head aches for the year after if I did any exercise.

I wouldn't wear it - i've come off whilst wearing the helmet i've got now, but it never hit the deck (i had my laptop bag on). Just start a collection of helmets - all the best racing drivers/riders have a collection Razz

I think my bag took most of the impact TBH and thats probably why the jacket survived with a small tear at the rear and mainly dirt all over it. I expected to see it in tatters when I came round.

My last FM probably took a bigger hit as it was cracked and split down the back Shocked but was noisey and heavy. Think another FM might be on the cards as it was a sweet fit just like the Shoei...

make a decision, your head OR a new helmet as that wont help again, plus the visor looks trashed and they aren't cheap to replace so get a new helmet. I can't help but think this is a stupid question mate Rolling Eyes
Like said already get one that fits, doesn't have to be a shoei they aren't the ONLY good make out there. You can pick up AGV, Shark, Bell, HJC etc for under a £100 and try find last years top models as they will be cheaper now. Critical thing is it fits well. Thumbs Up
