i'm looking to run m7 zxr750j without the ignition switch and key--can anyone advise me which wires to join for ignition on then starter?
there are 6 wires on the connector which are orange/green, red, grey, blue, white, black/white, there is also a single brown on a bullet connector-any advice appreciated, also won't need any lights etc to work if that's relevant because they've been removed

If you've got a wiring diagram I can tell you.

Should be one at the back of any haines manual. A lot of people wire the ignition into the switchgear somewhere. Although personally I'd keep the key configuration.

Hi

One thing to watch out for if you do use switches is that they sometimes put a resistor in one of the circuits in the ignition switch. This means that should someone hotwire it then the resistor is missing and the ignition unit decides to suppress the spark.

All the best

Keith

Right, the quick guide.

Arrow Remove all lights and indicators.
Arrow Remove speedo.
Arrow Remove pillion pegs.
Arrow Swap existing fairings for ill-fitting fibreglass ones.
Arrow Paint it. Badly.
Arrow Take an angle grinder to your engine covers to mimic the effect of multiple lowside.
Arrow Remove one clipon. Bend. Replace.
Arrow Apply copious amounts of gaffa tape to anywhere that looks like it needs 'protecting'.
Arrow Take the can off and run over it with your car. Replace.
Arrow Paint it badly again. A proper race bike should have at least three schemes underneath the current one, so they show through when you chip the top one.
Arrow Take a hammer to the tank and apply a dent to mimic the 'my nuts hit it here' dent that all good race bikes have.
Arrow Dribble some fibreglass resin about strategically to make it look like you've patched it up after a huge smash.

Congratulations! You now have an authentic looking race replica. Very Happy

that sounds like the spondon framed cr500 i raced in the early 90s or should i say the bike i lost my bottle on in the early 90s-people who haven't been out there really don't know how hard it is to make the transition from fast road to track

Failing that you could PM White Noise and ask him for some parts to make it look good!
