 |
|
as my 7 is off the road i have been doing some maitaince on her, one of todays tasks was to clean the front brake pistons, and fecking hell did they need doing! anyway all was going well until i got to the last two pistons to clean, they wheren't budging so blocked off the other 4 and one moved but unfortionatly it has brought a bit of the dust seal with it and now it won't go back in, and the other one is still not budging, tried to G clamp the one sticking out back in and the G-clamp snapped!
so it looks as though i am going to have to drain the whole system and get the piston out and replace the dust + fluid seals on the two dodgy pistons. but how do i get the bloody pistons out without getting stuff covered in brake fluid?
Cheers

plan A: making a jig like this and applying compressed air to the thread from the brake line, the holes to the other side of the caliper would be sealed, and the other pistons woud stay in due to them being blocked by the wood and the rubber. the bad piston would hopefully move under the pressure and come out, what do you recon?

cheers for that Grim, but i took the caliper to a good garage i know and it turns out they have got a Motorbike Brake Piston Removing Tool, it had the stuck pistons out in a flash, all FOC think i am going to go back there to borrow it for 5 min to get all the pistons (12) out and give the caliper + seals a good clean and check over
