 |
|
Some of you may have seen my "What bike to get" post earlier in the week where i had a poll on the 4 bikes i am considering getting after i pass my test in a few weeks. One of them was the KTM Duke 2. Someone in the thread asked me why don't i just get a SuperDuke. I would really love to get a SuperDuke. The problem is, i will be restricted to 33bhp for 2 years after my test and i would have to get it restricted. I know some of you will say, just get it anyway and get the restricter taken off after a few weeks. I really wouldn't want to risk doing that as i already have 6 points on my licence and can't risk getting anymore. I was also considering a CBR600rr, which would also have to be restricted. My question now is. If i were to get either the Superduke or the CBR600rr and get it restricted, is that just a waste of a bike? I wouldn't mind having a bike like that restricted at all. But is it a bad thing to have a 115bhp bike restricted to 33bhp? Would it affect the reliability of the bike, especially over the winter months? Would it damage the bike in anyway? Or would it simply mean that it wouldn't be as powerful and thats all? Do any of you have powerful bikes that are restricted and have you had much trouble as a result of the restriction? Cheers in advance |

From what i was told the washers in the carb (i think electronicly too) just doesnt allow as much fuel in, which keeps the revs down, i think power normaly cuts of at around 9k on an r6 so its quick to that but hen its slow as hell. so you use your gears alot more.
Im most probaly wrong and in know way do i claim to be an expert ____________________ ◙◙► K6 GSXR 600 ◄◙◙◙◙► K5 GSXR 1000 ◄◙◙◙◙► K5 GSXR 600 ◄◙◙◙◙► 96 RF600r ◄◙◙

i have the same problem,
sadly i have to restrict my gixxer srad it is a shame and most people dont agree with doing this, but i no i only have the money now for a bike so i thought what the hell and brought it then in 2 years or 2 weeks after i pass i wont need to upgrade as the power will be there ready and waiting!
tho i spoke to a bloke frmo the local motorbike shop and he said to me that quite a few people have told him they hardly felt any difference from it being normal or restrcted, maybe he was just trying to shut me up??
hmm now i wonder!! ____________________ gsxr 600! |

The restriction might have a negative affect on your engine. Depending on which way its restricted, it could cut off the powerbands in some gears, making your bike work outside the powerband, therefore giving it more load. Maybe, maybe not, just my thoughts ____________________ Will work for petrol
