Evening all.

Went out for a ride on my own today, did nigh on 200 miles Confused.

Anyway, got me thinking that I dont often go out on my own for a ride like I used to. When I was younger and had my little TS I'd just go out all the time and ride about just to be on the bike. I've been going out lately with my dad on his TL-R and his mate on a Gixer Thou, and to be honest I just spend most of the time thrashing the nuts off my bike to keep up. So this morning when I saw the sky was nice and clear I just thought fcuk it I'm going for a ride, threw my gear on and off I went. Spent most of my time trundling around single track lanes in Kent taking in the views and stopped at a nice little pub for a pint (The Leather Bottle in Cobham, very nice! Very Happy) and basically had a shit-hot time on my own.

Just wondered how often you lot go out on your own for a blast? After today I think I'll be going out a bit more, kinda sick of just trying to keep up and feeling like I'm on the limit all the time. Nice to just ride around at your own pace and go where you want when you want.

I love going out with other bikes, but seeing as I'm never leading and constantly feel like I have to be on the limit to keep up with the other riders in the group, it's nice to be able to go out on your own and just enjoy what biking is all about. Felt the bollox today to have no pressure on me to either keep up or follow where everyone's going, just go where I want when I want.

All the time.

I much prefer it to riding in a group, if I'm honest. Go as far as I like, go at the pace I like, go home when I like. Don't have to think about what anyone else wants to be doing, don't even have to have a destination in mind. Tis fun. Cool

It is my preferred method of riding to be honest. I am particularly enjoying going out on the TZR for a quick thrash every now and again.

As Bendy says... Cool

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Think you hit the nail on the head there Bendy. Probably why I had so much fun today, was just riding about looking for somewhere to stop for a pint, but I really wasn't bothered about where.

Very Happy

I've never been a great fan of riding with groups, usually do it more for the social aspect at either end. I do make a point of generally going at my own pace on a rideout with others (providing I know where were going) - if I'm slower I drop back, if I'm faster I'll wait at the next junction.
Of course, different if I'm 'leading'.

These days a fun ride is usually just to the local industrial estate for some attempted wheelies.
Otherwise it's the ride to a bike meet etc occasionaly.

All the time. Tried riding with my Dad and other people locally on smaller bikes and peds.

Find it very unnerving for varying reasons, it just doesnt appeal to me at all. Just keep on riding down little lanes as you say. I found some great places this summer, they were completely removed from anything I was used to. Very enjoyable, I think having a liking for your own company is required though.

one night i had about 1/2-1hour to burn and just ran the bike in and tryed to get lost in a town i didnt know very well but spend a lot of time in, anyone else done this, i mean tried to get lost, i managed it but soon knew where i was Sad getting lost is harder than you think and makes you know a place so much better!

ride on my own i seldom go really fast, better than way i find,

Also go out on me own. I can go at my own pace and if I have a problem with a particular bit of road can go over it a few times or stop for a rest without holding others back. Shocked

Also don't know many other bikers around here at the moment. Sad I very carefully sneak quietly past Box Hill and Bury Hill on Sundays to prevent being pounced upon by a hoard of happy bikers. Shocked Very Happy

I do appreciate the odd nod and wave I get from other bikers when I'm out and about though. Thumbs Up

I don't like riding with others, they are either too fast or too slow.

I only started caning it on the way back actually (funny what they say about beer giving you increased confidence Rolling Eyes).

I literally spent about half an hour riding through single track lanes at about 15mph in second/third gear and loved it!. Didn't have a clue where I was or where I was going at all, but I think that's what made it more enjoyable.

Prefer riding on my own. If you're out riding and pass an interesting looking road or sign, you can turn around and head down it. Or think to yourself "hang on, I'm only 10 miles from x" and change route. Or ring a mate and say "I'm 5 minutes away, stick the kettle on". If you're in a group you usually have a destination, and it's sometimes work to keep together.

I dont really know anyone near me with a bike so often when I'm bored I take the bike out for a thrash on my own. I do feel kind of guilty though taking it out with no destination in mind, and always think if i stacked it none of my mates would understand why i was out just riding for the sake of riding on my own.

ah, well had a great ride and usually you see another bike whos up for a play Razz
