with me looking to buy a 400 race bike for sunday fun, my little 125 hyosung comet will be a commuter only, however, if my new job comes through i will have the money to do some minor streetfighter work to it. Always wanted to do so but i fancy really 'chavving' it up as a cage modifier once said to me.

Basically im wanting to finally get my belly pan fitted, find a rear hugger and chain gaurd i can muscle into shape, maybe a new can (probably just a stock hyosung one) and a little raptor fairing, even seen a neon kit i like which id fit above the rear wheel on the under tray,

I know some will think, what a c*nt, but its what i fancy doing.

Just something to play around with while i work away my 2 years restriction.

Anywayz, do any of you have any advice on parts to look out for. I wanna really get the bike looking a little like this.

https://www.erich-jahn.de/neufahrzeuge/hyosung/motorrad/streetfighter.htm

maybe not as drastic as that though

any ideas would be good,

i know its only a 125, a waste of money, but as i said, its just to play with while im waiting on my 2 year restriction to pass.

edit, i found a french site with losts of ideas, but being franch i dont understand a bloody thing, all i want is to make my bike look like the ones they have on offer!!

https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=fr&u=https://comethyosung.free.fr/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttps://comethyosung.free.fr/%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D

does any one have any experience of street fighters and have any advice or opinions for me, i wanna change mine from a standard into a fighter.

The way I've seen it, to 'streetfighter' a bike you start with a sports bike and make it more appropriate for 'street' use.

If it's a road bike (rather than race style), then I'd just say you are modifying it.

Bascially, do what you want, to make it look how you want.

If your comet has clip ons, some off road bars may improve turn in feel.

ye, i guess im using street fighter as a term rather than literally, its not a sports bike, its streetfightering in the same way bandits or sv's are done.

As i say its just to play around with, i was wondering if anyone had an experience with making huggers, belly pans, raptor fairings, rad covers and all the other aftermarket bits you get that need a bit of fiddling to get fitted.

How hard is it to have a pop at this?

If you're talking aftermarket stuff, usually pretty easy, shouldn't be much hassle at all.

ye, customising then! haha, good to hear it shouldnt be bad, i mean i got a universal belly pan, but it seems to be a little to wide and catches the downpipe from the front cillender of my twin.

so some giggery-pokery is needed

Might try looking here for headlights? Some universal ones there. It's Demon Tweeks, so you can probably get it alot cheaper elsewhere. Smile

Usually people add mx bars to speed up turn in with less effort, so would be a tad counter productive to slow it down again, though sure some do.

Saw a good description in streetfighters mag:
"Basically, a Streetfighter is about attitude. Whether it's because it looks mean, or is designed to be ridden mean, it's the attitude portrayed." (mis-quote, but that was the gist of it)

i want some straigh bars added, a new can (second hand will do), basically just tart he up!

my main riding mates ride custom cruisers, and are getting me into the customising thing, although i would ride a cruiser, they are not my 1st choice of bike, so modding my bike really keeps in with everything im interested in doing.

A lot of turn in speed is due to how hard you countersteer.
One reason why I suggested it doesn't have to be a major factor in bike purchasing Smile.

Wide bars means that the same countersteering force has more torque on the steering, thus the bike turns quicker.

You can get top yokes ready converted to straight bars.

Go have a word on www.chopperbuilder.co.uk - yes, it is a real site!

They build everything in all sorts of styles on there and I'm sure they'll be able to help.

Those bars spoil it, i think it ruins the whole bike, flat bars or off road ones would look better, ALOt better imho.

its easy me and my brother have just done one.
buy a dropped r1(smashed plastics, bent bars and broken levers etc)
throw all the broken shit away
get a top yoke kit, some renthal bars,a twin headlight kit,a tacky chrome radiator cover,a pair of front brake lines and the throttle cables of an xjr1300 +a few hours work (the worst of it being the wiring loom shortening and lengthening)and you can stand back and admire the fact that you have made a bike that never uses the front tyre.its a mad bike that wheelies everywhere whether you want it to or not.but it all rides off at well under 2 grand.
