Odd whirring noise - the RS sounds like a turbine.

Something that I only notice at speed, it doesn't happen at any engine revs at standstill, but it's a weird noise, sounds bit like a turbine.
Not sure what it is, but it's coming from the vicinity of the front wheel Laughing

I used to get that noise on my zx6r when i had my standard exhaust on (because i could hear properly with it) Laughing

It was when i accelerated sounded like a jet about to take off. Laughing

I think its pretty normal. Thumbs Up

Oil your speedo drive and cable (assuming it is not an electronic one). They can make one hell of a din.

If it is the cable that is making the noise, you can probably expect it to snap fairly soon, although it should last a bit longer with some lubrication.

Sounds like theyve got it covered, but if its the AR6 engine (which i think it is) then it could also be the water pump for the radiator Thumbs Up

If your turbine noise is a kind of deep sound its probably your front wheel bearing.

Get someone to spin the front wheel by hand while you hold the forks with your hand, if you feel a sort of roughness transmitting from the wheel, you need a new front bearing.

Not sure what the RS125 uses...wouldent it just be the same engine with a bigger barrell and piston? And obviously things to match like different gearing etc.

The minarelli AM6 (at least i think it's AM) Is a single cylinder 2-poker. The old RS125 extremas use a rotax 123, and the current model uses a rotax 122. But following NSRkid's recent posts, i'll have to correct my earlier post, as it is in fact a 250 so now i honestly have no idea what engine it uses at all!

rs250 uses a suzuki rgv250 vj22 engine
is in no way related to the 125
