Been on the NSR since Sunday, and twice have people damaged it.

On sunday a car driver decided to use the wrong lane in a roundabout, and knocked me off. Damaged the RHS plastics, but he claimed full responsibilty, I got witnesses, and the insurance people are coming to look at it on Monday.

BUT - today, I left it in the college carpark, went out at 3pm, and OMG! The panels were all cracked and hanging off it. A bus had reversed into it, knocked it over, and also knocked over the VFR it was parked next to. The bus drivers ganged up on me and the VFR owner, told us it was basically our fault for parking there, and because it's private land there's nothing we can do. I reminded them that just because it's private land doesn't mean you can run over bikes.

Luckily the damage the bus did is also on the RHS, and I'd already had an estimation done. So all the most recent damage was due to be fixed anyway. Luckily.

This bike has pratically bankrupted me with buying it, insuring it etc, and all this crap has happened all at once. I've just got a feeling it's not "meant to be" and as such I'm really thinking of selling it. I love bikes, but I've had 3 accidents in a week - got knocked off the ped by a drunk, knocked off at that roundabout, and this with the bus. Maybe I should get a car for the winter and go back to bikes in the summer or something.

Oh well, they say it comes in threes..

Sorry for the ranty/whingy style of this post, I just need some sympathy right now Mr. Green

Thanks,
Jon

should've got the bus drivers details anyway and reported it to your insurance company.
especially since he was being a shit.
i'd also have phoned up his company and let them know what went on.

just cos someone says they arent responsible doesnt mean that they are not responsible

you should have got his details and let insurance companies argue about who's liable

Def should have got the bus dudes details.
I know an old guy smashed a brick wall/fence at a local car park and the police still charged him with neg driving and he had to pay for the wall.
Even though it was private property it was still designated as public access and there for road rules and penalties applied.
Maybe it would have worked in this case as well.
I know he thinks its no big deal but would he have spotted the bikes if you were still sitting on them??
It's just not on, he fucked up and has no right to take the piss by blaming you.

i would have taken the bus drivers details and got every teacher at my college to have a look and see that he was in the wrong, im sure you can still claim, was it in a stupid place or where all the motorbikes are parked at your college?

at my college i just park in the 6th form car park (although i am 6th form so make sense) with 2 harleys and about 3 peds. im currently trying to get a motorbike bay painted as i think a car will go into a space where my bike it and knock it over, so need a bay, you have a motorbike bay at your college?

I findthat my bike is cursed!

Everytime i say 'Nothing has gone wrong with it' -a few days after-something goes wrong.

The things that go wrong are things that could be deemed as 'Rider error' so i cant blame the bike for it! Cool

On the other hand.....
Some people say these things come in thress so it might be years before another 'incident'

Re. the bus attack, if your bike is parked it is the drivers fault, no arguments if he hits it - OK maybe space was tight but that doesn't mean you can legally bash into anything in the way Laughing

At least a bus is going to have a current insurance policy we hope.

Hi,
Bike was parked sensibly with all the other bikes. Just found that for some reason they tried to take off my fairing afterwards (all the bolts missing? Shocked ). Bus drivers really do take the piss, I hate them with a passion. These are the same people who sweve into bikes to TRY to knock them off.

There was an incident last year when another driver hit a parents car. The parent asked for the drivers details, and the driver got out and punched the parent in the face, and proceeded to batter them. Really not nice people.

We told the teacher in charge of busses and his reply was "What do you want me to do, it's between you and him". I got my dad to come to help, and he was told to go away by the teachers Mad

Hate the school, hate the drivers, and if the insurance assessor writes it off on Monday I'm gonna be bikeless for a long time, because my parent's have been majorly put off by all this. Gah.

if they write it off because of cosmetic damage and give you a pay out, buy it back on the cheap and ride it with no fairings or get some dirt cheap ones off of ebay.

Don't suppose anyone knows what sort of cost would I be looking at to buy it back with cosmetic damage, do they?

It is something I considered, but to be honest, I might put the money towards doing my car test (got a car sat in the drive), and buy another bike in the summer when I'm a little better off financially. It's scary all these accidents all together, and I really am wondering if me and bikes are meant to be.

i think its fairly cheap . . . I bought a cat c 98 bandit for half the normal price, but that wasn't from insurance. Might be worth buying it back and breaking it or just selling it anyway if theres a profit to be had.

You dont get nowhere in life if you dont moan your guts out to the highest possible authority.

Contact the bus company and explain what happened. Try and get the VFR fella to agree with you, get as many witnesses as possible, and point out you were legally parked and the crash was caused through the bus driver not taking his surroundings into account and not paying due care and attention.

If the bus company refuse to take liability or arent useful, contact the police and ask what they can do. Try and contact someone else and get onto them.

Complain complain complain.
