me and my gsxr600 were involved in a head on crash with a car on wednesday!!!!!!! Crying or Very sad

what happened was there was a lorry which was in front of my path on the road however the lorry moved and i proceeded to continue down the road (not go around the lorry) then a a car on my right pulled into my path onto my side of the road to get to a parking space on my left just as the lorry moved out of the way.

He obviously didnt look! Rolling Eyes

the result was broken nose cone and scuffs on the fairing for me, for the car broken bumper and craked grill plates.

I have a reliable witness and im adament that it was not my fault.

we were gonna settle pivately but the money he is offering to give is £100 which is peanuts compared to what it will cost to get right.

ive reported it to my insurance and i have all the car drivers details and the witnesses.

I have not yet any signs of damage im ok, i think?

What do guys think the outcome, will be any lawers here?

if he offering £100 (which is laughable if damaged GSXR fairing then maybe go though insurance as this must be the best way if you have a witness saying hes in fault)

unluckly mate about the bike, any pics to see the extent of the damage?

Got to say, you haven't phrased that elegantly, so I can't really piece together what happened.

However, since he's already offered you a price (albeit a crap one) it shows he's clutching at straws, going on that I don't think you'll have any problem.

Try and get proof of him offering you the money as THAT alone is an admittion of guilt on his part.

Thats a good idea.

And it might also be worth discretely driving by their house and taking a few pics of the damaged car. Just to cover yourself in case they get the damage repaired and deny it was them.

You might not feel any pain as results of the crash for around a day or so. But realisticly thats only for back pain/whiplash. Was the car he was driving expensive? When it comes to these things you CAN NOT be a nice guy, even if it comes to using the insurance companies. Make sure that your forks are straight aswell! There could well be more damage to your bike than meets the eye.

That wouldn't stand. Even if he admitted guilt at the scene, then the insurance company turns round and says thier client was confused. I have to do it all the time. Rolling Eyes

Without understanding what actually happened I can't help any further. I'm a claim handler, so I can take a fair stab. (More than likely, it'll be 6 months, and they'll eventually settle on 50/50. Wink Depends on what the witnesses say)

Hi

If I understand the situation correctly, you were riding down the road behind a lorry, the lorry turned off and a car coming the other way used that moment to come onto your side of the road and hit you head on.

As such I cannot see how it should be anything other than 100% the drivers fault as far as insurance goes.

£100 is pathetic (but about right to be offered as people think of bikes as cheap). Take it in to a dealers and get a full quote done. Would not surprise me if the headlight is broken (even just mounting tags), same for the bracket supporting it and the clocks. Quite possibly the frame is damaged. Fallen on to the exhaust and you can add a silencer to that and possibly damage to the swinging arm.

All the best

Keith

Hi,
should have gone to hospital, got checked out for neck/head injuries so its documented, then you could report to police within 24 hours, who then HAVE to take an interest. They contact the driver and check his insurace details etc. and witnesses. See my post about a 5mph accident on my NSR....the panel damage on it will be in excess of £1500 to put right.
Three days earlier, a low speed inpact with curb on my tag yamaha is costing new forks and panels....to the value of the bike, but that was my fault.

Ive had the bike checked over and its only cosmetic damage, forks and frame are good, however the witness agrees that it was the drivers fault.

I have no personal injury, and i know i maybe a softy but ive been told by mates to fake some injury to my wrists so i can get some money but that for me just doesnt feel right i just want the bike fixed so i can move on.

From experience, they won't always attend an accident, even when called.

The rozzer who came to see me after a car knocked me off said they will always come if someone is injured. So just say your neck is hurting or something, anything!

only call the police if not your fault. however, i called them once when a lady pulled out in front of me....clear cut case....no. the pig (meant in the most offensive way) lied and it went 50/50. unfortunately the accompanying officer didnt have the guts to stand up against the corruption. as a result i am approximatly £3-£4 thousand pounds worse off.

glad your okay, screw through the insurance. if your bruises or soar at all, then demand compensation. might be just a couple of hundred quid, but better than nothing for your trouble

Just put it straight through the insurance i had a guy go into the back of me a while back he tryed the heres a £100 for the damage i refused it and got he details of his insurance company then it turned out he was never insured and lyed about the company name. Did you get his name and address and plate numbers from him. Did he own straight upto being his fualt when it happened and if he did did you get a witness to it.

hope you all right mate and you get the bike sorted out soon Thumbs Up

What was the pig's reason for lying?

To this day i dont know. i was polite, and factual. the other officer was even talking to me saying he couldnt see how it was my fault other than the fact i was on the road. however, his story never went through.

The other copper came out with some warped rubbish which he officially commented on the case to the ladies lawyers. he lied saying i was partially to blame.

i was riding along and she pulled out in front of me. i was doing 30mph with 2 metres to stop. i didnt (well not in time anyway Wink ) somehow that was partly my fault. the only thing i can think to come up with is to have not got up that morning! The guy must have just hated bikes.

It sounds like the car drivers fault, he was on your side of the road going head to head totally wrong!!

if u dont wanna go for injury dont go for it just get your bike sorted you might find they could put it 90-10 going against the car depending on what speed you got up to in the distance between the lorry and the car! Thumbs Up
