Ok guys after having the mtx stolen and now being without a bike 4 a couple of months i've decided 2 pull my finger out and see what i can do with the AE50 moped

Basically i had it put it into storage a few months ago as i bought the mtx and couldnt find a buyer, after the mtx was stolen i decided 2 take the ped out of storage and start using it again

after 10mins riding it i noticed some rather strange things happening. Both brakes front and back were sticking... but it felt as if they weren't working efficiently.

Then when i indicated for a junction i noticed my indicator light on the dash wasnt working, then the indicator itself... subsecquently every bulb on the sodding bike has blown.

What bemuses me is how theres a fuse on one of the leads from the battery and its still intact surely this should have blown 2 protect the bulbs etc? Sad

I havent even got around to getting it tested.

What possible causes cud make this happen? Question

Come on i need some insperation here..... if anyone has anything constructive or any advice i'd be grateful, also b4 u say sell it or bin im not in the financial situation 2 buy a new one or get my test (part-timer) but i am looking 2 change the situation, i miss being mobile, especially in this weather. Sad

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

Almost certainly your voltage regulator has gone bye-bye. It is a black box. You would need to measure the voltage across the battery terminals to check this. If it is a 12v system, anything much above 15V while the engine is revved up indicates a problem with the regulator.

Not sure of the levels on a 6V bike but I would say probably over 8v or so would indicate a problem.

The voltage regulator is a 'black box'. If it is broken, you need to replace it.

Just something to note, some very basic bikes don't have a voltage regulator and use the battery itself to 'damp down' the voltage in the loom. In this case, a seriously fucked battery (like plates welded together) could cause the symptoms you describe.

Ok yea, the voltage regulator i think i've found, it looks like at some point in its life the regulator has been replaced, cuz the plug that connects into it has a corner broken off. I have taken the liberty of destroying the plug and individually connecting the spade connectors that plug into that.

I will get this piece of crap ped working again. Twisted Evil
