I need to do an oil change but i've noticed that my fairing bolts are being right bitches. You have a couple that are fine, but the rest are complete bitches. They require a philipshead screw, but they have been rounded off. And they're situated pretty deep. So has anybody got suggestions on how to get them off. Usual tools in the garage + dremel.

Cheers

If you have a dremel can you score a cross into the bolts so you can use the screwdriver?

The problem's with the lowest of the fairing bolts wich mounts onto the V-plate, where the left and right side join, just below the rad. The bolt is recessed by about 20 mill, no where near enough or wide enough to allow a dremel to go through.

In that case, should i drill it out?

Watch the drilling, the heat ends up melting the panel if you're not very careful. I know these things Embarassed

buy cheap screw driver that would once of fitted put small amount of super glue on end and carefully super glue to bolt leave to go off and then remove it'll either unwind thread or come straight off so you've lost nothing Thumbs Up

Cheers for the sugestions, but the allen bolts were reluctant to move with the superglue method. It's being an arse! I got off the other bolts using the dremel.

Now my main problem is sorting out the sump bolt - see workshop thread. It had managed to chew the bottom of the thread away and consequently can't be torqued up properly.
