Just had the first 'iffy moment' on the SV.

I was pulling out of the college driveway and stopped to let some traffic past. Seeing more in the distance, I decided to pull out with haste, only that was where I went wrong. I fed the clutch out a little too quickly, which sent the back end flying out as I turned left and exited the drive. What followed was a series of events you might see if you watched Some Mothers Do 'Av 'Em, as I skipped, ran and hopped down the road while keeping a firm grip on the handlebars. Actually, it all went so fast, I can't remember exactly what happened.

I remember closing the throttle; I believe this caused the wheel to get traction enough to extend the shock as I felt the bike jab up onto the underside of my left thigh. My feet were on the floor at this point, though not at the same time. I'm sure the bike then changed direction, and started to fall to the right. I don't know whether I was thinking 'Just don't drop it' or 'I'm gonna drop it', but somehow I managed to get it upright, put the power on and ride away, patting my chest in a 'That was too close' kinda way. It's just one more thing to put down to experience.

Shocked

Congrats on keeping that upright mate, could of been a hell of a lot worse. Never nice when something like that happens.

I love riding in winter, cant beat it!

I actually had something like that today. Near me there's a piece of road that's a NSL for literally about 200 yards as you come off a small roundabout, thing is the road there is really, really bad. Was going past it today and just whacked the throttle open as I came off the roundabout and I could feel the rear end bouncing about as I went. Thought it must of looked pretty flash to the car full of chavs behind me who'd been sitting on my rear tyre for the last half a mile, but thinking about it now it could of been so much worse.

That's exactly right. Once you know you're OK, your first thought is OMFG, but then you feel elated and a little fired up. Later when you're going back over it, you start to question whether it actually happened.

I've been going out on weekends recently in the wet and have learnt a few more lessons than I did in the dry!
Coming out of a roundabout I dropped a gear and hammered away until the revs picked up enough to spin the back wheel sideways.
Luckily I didn't react in time and release the throttle so before I knew what was happening I was back on the straight (with a sly grin).
For some reason I've always expected to spin the wheel when taking off but not at the top of the gear.
It happened again when overtaking a car, as I was alongside them I heard the revs pick up suddenly without me going anywhere Shocked .
I'm glad I got a 400 now instead of a 600 or the consequences could have been worse!!
