I have been speaking to a friend in the uk and he is claiming he can get 33hp from a 125 NSR is this possible Confused

He just brought one as the owner claimed to get 33hp you just remove the restrictor plate in the inlet manifold and a re-jet and this will give you 33hp.

Its a 2000 btw.

Not with a bit of tuning, think NSRs are less powerful (unrestricted) than RSs/Mitos (which put out around 28bhp if I'm not mistaken).

What's been done to it?

They are restricted to about 12hp stock from the old rules.

Expect around 23hp at the rear wheel for one in ok condition.

yea RS is about 28ish roughly, NSR is less and not as much top speed, about 95 i think whereas got 103mph (indicated) out my RS probably get 110 (indicated) so probaly just under a ton or so.

if you have a good rider though you cant notice the difference

It's about 5mph slower than an RS on topend, derestricted, but doesn't blow up nearly as often... so I've been told! Mine's still restricted though, til I do my test Sad Don't want to loose my licence yet (after the accident, police were on about checking for restrictions in place Shocked )

Cheers,
Jon

Remember that there is also a power to weight ratio restriction on a 33bhp licence. I worked it out in another thread and pointed it out to 18Aprillia. As I recall, if you put an RS125 over 26bhp it exceeds that power:weight ratio and is illegal to ride on a restricted licence.

A 33bhp NSR125 is almost certainly illegal for someone on a restricted licence.

It depends if your going on the dry or wet weight, I think the wet weight of 139kg is under the power to weight ratio with 28bhp.

With a new filter, re-jet and Arrow/Jolly Moto exhaust, you might see around 5bhp increase. I would think 33bhp would be possible at the expense of reliability.

LS125R's spec is 24ps/8500rpm, 2.0k/8500rpm. I don't know the difference between ps and bhp sorry.

A long way out. 1bhp = 1.0139PS. Esseitially so small that it is dwarfed by error when measuring them on a dyno.

All the best

Question has been answered but I used to drag race my NSR125 (J-reg) against a 98 RS, 99 RS, 00 Mito & 02 NSR and I used to win everytime (for those that dont believe me ask Ash T ). All my nsr had had done to it was a change of exhaust as my brother had a de-restricted NSR so i robbed his exhaust when he came off his and never used iit again.

Got caught doing 95mph by a copper once but let me off because he couldnt prove i was doing that speed.
