Dragging clutch?

Hi there i'm hoping someone might be able to shed some light, my bike in missing gears, only every now and then but getting more frequesnt, and 2nd pops back into neutral sometimes. Oh and if i accelerate from a standstill quite rapidly i dont actually get anywhere fast, its like i've still got the clutch in, and then suddenly it starts pulling better. The chain is too slack and i will be sorting that at the weekend, is that the liekly cause, else i was thinking:

Gear plates getting on now, maybe need replacing?

Also do you actually need the "special" home chain adjuster tool for the honda bros or can the chain be adjusted with conventional tools?

i dont see why you can't use regular tools?

if adjusting your chain doesn't sort it then it probably is your clutch plates are worn out

how long have you been using them for?

Do you know much about the honda bros? Its a single side swingarm, and the chain is tighten via an eccentric (i think) bearing or so i heard.
Also i HAD to buy a special spark plug tool for the bike as it is a weird angle to get into and no other spark plug tool i tried fitted, only hondas own. So im wondering if its the same with the chain tensioner, they do a specific tool for it, specifically for the bros

Dunno how long plates been in there, could be from new, abouit 20K miles on it now

i've got a c spanner in the tool box, i'll give it a bash on saturday morning, leaves me saturday afternoon/sunday to get the honda part if i do in fact need it

Be carefult about trying to use a suspension C spanner, the radius is different and it will slip and you will hurt yourself - DAMHIKIJKOK.

Just a little.

New/second hand basket really but to be honest I'd just attack it with a file and smooth down the fingers.

New clutch. Not a hard or expensive thing to do. Make sure you get the metal plates as well tho.

Just had a thought. Take a look at the shaft that has the front sprocket on it and make sure the splines aren't damaged.

I might have a damaged engine with a clutch basket somewhere.

Second gear? wait for it to go, not much else you can do.

damn it! just got the bike looking like i want it.

I'd rather not wait for it to go, i have to use the bike everyday to work and back and dont like the idea of losing a gear, even if 2nd gear is a short gear on it.

there was a clutch basket went for one on ebay few days ago as well, like £10 Sad

I'll whip the sprocket cover off and take a look tomorrow
