short question, i need to replace the intake manifold on my nsr125,the part between the carb and engine, as the previous owner had broken it and just wrapped tape round it, i have bought a new one, and if i turn the fuel off at the tap, can i just take the old one out and replace??
or is there another thing i should do also??

What a piss-poor bodge, should go like a rocket with the new carb rubber on the way that is restricted 
If you've got enough movement between the carb and the filter yes you can do it without shifting anything. If you can't get enough space just take the other end of the carb off the filter to give you more space, shouldn't have to take any cables off or upset anyything else. If the rubber is a very tight fit use silicone grease/oil(or something similar) to lubricate the rubber and it will fly on

Hi
If you turn the petrol off then you will limit the amount of petrol that leaks out. There is still some petrol in the carb (and some in the pipe from the fuel tank to the carb). This will spill if you take the carb off carelessly.
If you unbolt the airbox from the frame you will probably be able to move it far enough back to enable you to get the carb out of the way and then the remains of the carb mounting rubber out of the way.

You could always turn the petrol tap off and run the engine untill it cuts out, that should leave the float bowl almost (if not) empty.
