Noticed my forks were leaking so i took it into have the seals changed. PROBLEM! the person who had the bike before me or one of its owners has threaded the nuts to take the forks off! mechanic told me that the only way to get them off now is to go to an engineering firm and ask them to drill out the heads of the nuts then the forks will come off. Anyone one had this problem/companies that can do this? Cheers Ryan

Think he's talking about the top of the forks, not the headstock. (i.e. what holds the forks together, not in place)

Hi

I presume you mean the pinch bolts on the yokes. Is it just the heads chewed up or have they been crosss threaded?

Chewed heads make the bolts a pain to get out, but a professional mechanic should be able to do it. Crossed threads make it easy for them to come out, just impossible for them to stay in play. This can repaired with some kind of helicoil.

All the best

Keith
