Most of them get a good rating, Oxford ones are pretty good ive heard, people say they do warm your hands, and at 55 degrees too.

Alltho, grips heat the inside of your hands, not the outside, and if you cover your brake/clutch, again your fingers get cold...

i think that handle bar muffs with heated grips would be the Best option, J&S are doing some oxfords at the moment.

I got a pair of gloves from www.thaw.co.uk

They are supposed to be really good. They are really thin so will fit under your winter gloves easily, but at the same time really warm. Might be worth trying some out before splashing out on heated grips.

IMO

Heated grips without bar muffs are a bit pointless...

Like siting in your garden with a patio heater on full blast in winter wearing your pants... better than nothing but still massively uncomfortable...

The ones i had were great untill it got REALLY cold, where they just burnt the underside while my knuckles froze.. so they weren't really worth haveing in retrospect. (and if it wasn't that cold undergloves were enough anyhow)

Heated gloves are the way but more expensive.. bar muffs and grips would be a good way to go, but will still cost 50+20 anyways, heated gloves go for £90 (so i'm waiting personally).

Grips are easy enought to fit if you do them propperly, not hard... (never bodge electrics, it will allways cause you hassle in the end)

Think very carefully before spending your money! remember if you buy gloves or grips they will come off very easyly and will fit to anything that runs on 12v.

Wearing inner gloves made a massive difference for me. Did lose a bit of 'feel' - except of course I lost it all before as my fingers froze!

Bar muffs are the way forward. Looking out of place is nothing when you pass someone all nice & toasty. Thumbs Up

They do run off a battery but apparently they are quite heavy!

Personally I wouldn't fancy being connected to the bike via a wire, even if it has a break away connector on the line.

Hi

Got the Oxford ones on Charlottes GPZ500 and ZZR600. They work well, even without bar muffs. However these are faired bikes which keeps the wind blast off them.

Fairly easy to fit. I have wired them up using a relay, triggered from the rear brake light switch. This way they turn on / off with the ignition without putting a large extra load on any of the existing circuits.

Heated gloves may in theory be better, but they are several times the price and you then have the hassle of plugging yourself in.

Inner gloves have never worked that well for me. However I think this is due to size. If your gloves are too tight (tends to happen when you shove an extra layer between your hands and well fitting gloves) then you start to restrict the flow of blood round your hands.

All the best

Keith

I was looking at these

https://www.mandp.co.uk/productInfo.aspx?catRef=218127

Didn't think that AA batteries would have sufficient juice to power a heating element.

Oh but you can get some that are powered by a portable power source!

Those muffs don't look too bad, but on most faired bikes the mirrors don't move with the bars? So would they fit something like the R6? I saw some today and was tempted, but I know I'd get the pee ripped out of me by my mates if I turned up with them Laughing

My dad has heated grips. Oxford ones on his ZZR. They work quite well but we had a bit of trouble getting the on as they are solid grips not flexible ones like normal. Also they are really heavy which has kind of stopped the throttle springing back to normal when you lay off the throttle but i think that is probably easily fixed.

Also tried heated gloves, they are like normal thermal golves with wires on the top which get a bit uncomfortable and also there is quite alot of wires going through your jacket and to the bikes battery.

We also have muffs Laughing that were supposed to go on my sisters scooter but don't fit so can't comment on them.

Thumbs Up

See if you need to put a small washer between the bar end weight and the bar itself to space it out. Might just be that the heated grip is not quite fully in position and is now rubbing on the end weight.

All the best

Keith

I swear by heated grips and muffs, ( you can get away without muffs for short commutes) but having my heated grips pack in on me just before a 30 mile ride in the snow, even with muffs i was in agony,
no idea whats wrong with em, theres power getting to the switch and also I get a reading through the grip but does it buggery warm up,,
Ive decided there might be a better option.
this
https://www.gerbing.com/divmc/home/motorcycle.html
by the looks of it you will have to shop around for the best price and its my belief that buying direct would be the best option

Gore-tex is simply a rather clever material which is lightweight, as good as completely waterproof and breathable. It is great stuff, but is a waterproof layer rather than doing anything to keep you warm. Gore-tex is proprietory and expensive, so not a few manufacturers use 'Sheltex' instead. It is just as good.

Waterproof yes, warm no.
