That is a good quote but do check the small print.

I've seen some companies have weird clauses, including no cover for theft from Midnight to 6 a.m.!

I would be expecting £200-250 at 24 years old.

Nah, get to 40 and the prices are lower (I am not there yet, and it is £225 fully comp for my Bandit with a fair few engine mods declared).

Some companies have some very odd clauses. Charlotte came across one years ago that gave good quotes to young car drivers. Buried in the small print was a clause that those under 21 were only insured when accompanied by someone over 25.

All the best

Keith

Having a garage makes a lot of difference. I park my bike outside and my insurance reflects that.

I've been with Direct Choice for a few years, can't fault them. Always been far cheaper for me

Wotcha.

Argh - why is it that every online insurance company asks for all your personal details - i.e. home address, home phone number BEFORE they will give an estimate ? Surely all they need is a post code and your age - then if it looks like a bargain, you can give them the revelant details. I've filled these things in before now, and when it comes to "select make of bike" ---> "select model of bike" - - they don't have mine listed { Moto Guzzi - Nuovo Falcone }, so I can't get a quote. Then, as if by magic, a few days later a bleedin' advert from the insurance company will plop on my doormat.
No - any company that wants my details beforehand can go screw themselves.

There - I feel much better having got that lot off me chest Laughing

I think you'd need a bit more than two year's NCB, or a very "safe" postcode, to get fully comp for that much, on a 600 sportsbike, at that age Idea

That quote is bloody good if you ask me.

Im actually a little pee'd off. Im with the same broker.

Im 26, 5 years no claims, insured tpft on a ZX9R which costs me £390

Might give them a ring in the new year and ask for a requote. Ive been with them for 3yrs too.

Actually that may be the problem, if you just continue to renew they dont really bother to find you better deals.

Im underwritten by Zenith.

Do you know who is underwriting yours

Equity red star, thats who i was with before.

Good stuff with the quote though, and if you keep your record clean it can only go down as your bonus grows.

NEVER take the first quote, if nothing else ring back saying you've been quoted £50 less and see what they do.

I paid about that with less NCB on a 9r a few years ago with 2years NCB, 23 years old and held my licence for less time I presume.

Hi Ranger

Difference is your quote is for tpft, his is for fully comp. Suspect fully comp would at least double your quote. A extra bike with some companies adds very little to the quote (think with Equity Red Star policies they charged an extra £15 for any extra bike under £3000 value).

All the best

Keith

While this is worth a try, remember that sometimes this is too much for the company to agree with. For instance it would be 1/3 of my premium.

I play the 10% game with insurers......

Get a quote that you are happy with, say that you will call them back (or better still, get them to call you back Wink )

Phone another company that isn't part of the same group and knock 10% off the premium. If they match it, do the same again, to another company until you start to get either 'we can't match that' or very similar quotes. Then go with the lowest/best Thumbs Up

Always remember that although they might not want to give you more money off, they might well be happier giving you some sort of extra cover for free (ride other bikes, insure another for nothing, break down etc, etc).

If you already have breakdown cover and they are giving it to you in the insurance, ask for a reduction in the premium, cos you don't need two lots of breakdown cover.

I was taught that by a mate that works in insurance
