Sorry in advance for the crap night photos. Can't get the camera to take decent photos in the dark. Mad

Picked up yesterday a fzr400 frame subframe forks swingarm engine carbs and 3 sets of wheels from Barry_MC21 for absolutely free (cheers again Thumbs Up Very Happy ) which was about a 100 mile round treck.

Got it home and didn't really do much as it was raining and i quite frankly couldn't be bothered. Laughing

My plan was to get up early this morning and crack on, see what i have and start cleaning it up. That was blown out the window when i got up at 11:30 and didn't get dressed until 1.

Made it into the garage at 1:30 and had a tidy up so i had a nice clean workspace. Took everything off the frame and swingarm ready for a clean.

The frame has had a pretty good clean with white spirit in this pic

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/6172/dscn28317cw.jpg

The swingarm and that stupid minimoto that won't start. Surprised

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7340/dscn28347he.jpg

Next i started to strip the carbs to clean them, they looked to be in a pretty bad start. A fair bit of corrosion which needs to be cleaned.

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/2716/dscn28301sq.jpg

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/8424/dscn28284kq.jpg

Next we have the engine which also has corrosion where the carbs went. (Klause told me to clean it but not take it apart, not sure how to do that. Laughing )

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7931/dscn28463up.jpg

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7893/dscn28451va.jpg

Here are the 3 sets of wheels with square tyres from burnouts. Cool I plan to get 2 sets powdercoated flat black and one set slicks another wets.

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/4039/dscn28354hq.jpg

The forks. Not sure to get those powdercoated or there is a chance i may be able to get some usd gsxr400 forks from a mate. Still undecided.

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/9607/dscn28369mb.jpg

Assorted bits here

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/7458/dscn28379dt.jpg

I have planned over the next couple of weeks to buy a few bits to get the engine running. Pick up the exhaust from R4nger Thumbs Up prepare the frame subframe and swingarm ready to be sprayed flat black. Thats all i have really thought about at the moment.

Hopefully Klause, Cliff & R4nger will be able to help me out a few sundays as i have limited (none at all) knowledge about engines. Laughing

One last thing the number plate. Laughing

https://img3.imageshack.us/img3/8052/dscn28406vr.jpg

Hope to be finished before i go to thailand so about early may and look forward to seeing a few peeps at some trackdays in summer. Cool Thumbs Up

Brick Wall

Forgot to say i will be getting R6 front fairings and also have an R1 tail unit. Hence the Yamaha R4. Very Happy

It should hopefully look like this but completley flat black with white rim tape for a touch of class. Cool

https://www.madsi.co.uk/images/r6fairing/Mar10011.jpg

Also if we can't get the engine to work then i will more than likely be dropping either a thundercat or fzr750 engine in. Thumbs Up

I've seen, yam trx850 engines fitted into the fzr400 frames and know that the fzr600 slots in perfect and heard of someone with a yzf750 engine in one too.

Also I have a box of FZR400 engine parts at home, from when I took me mates fzr blown engine for him. If you think you need something contact me and I'll see if I can help you out. I sort you out with cheap prices aswell.

It's shit but with nick cleaning and my mechanics I think we can get it working. Obviously we need to replace the engine, frame, swingarm, wheels, carbs etc. Mark can cover that on eBay. Cliff can be the tea making bitch.

My friend bought it for £200 i think and i was gonna at the same buy one aswell but heard bad things about them so waited to see what his was like. Wouldn't start from day one so he kind of gave it to me for a christmas present like last year.

Just taking space up in the garage. I bet they are good fun when they are going. Smile

Cheeky bumping.

Much as I disagree with your philosophies and think you're making a mistake, if you need any real r6 bits, give me a shout, as I've got loads of spares now that are going to be sold off for reasonable prices.

G

What year is the R6?

I'm after (off all things) a rear wheel spindle for an 98-02 model, and chain adjusters.

Thumbs Up

It's a 99, so will fit your model.

Should have those, will check later today.

Probably best to reply in there so I don't hijack this thread.

When you say 'chain adjusters', do you mean the spacer sections, or just the bolts that actually adjust the chain?
