So, the demo bike turned up this morning, along with 2 customer bikes that we weren't expecting until the end of March! Cool

PDI'd it was, then after the mechanic took it for a spin it was my turn. The first thing that hits you is just how small the damn thing is, it just disappears underneath you. It's a definate racing crouch, far more extreme than my ZX-6R J. Off I went and I was pleasantly surprised at how good the fuelling is low down, and on small throttle openings. Very consistent and with no lurching. The gearbox was also surprisingly smooth, Triumph boxes are normally very notchy for the first 1000 miles or so, but the Daytona is pretty good from the off.

Come to the first roundabout and its apparant just how flickable the bike is. Even on brand new, uber-sticky-when-warm-but-shit-when-cold tyres it was very impressive. Think, and you're leant over and around the roundabout without any real effort.

Down the short bit of dual carriageway and to the next roundabout and the brakes show themselves too. Again, I'm very impressed. Just a very light pull on the lever and the bike stops faster than expected, I can't wait for a warm day with bedded in tyres and brakes so that I can test them properly. My favorite bit is definately the noise though. Give it a handful from 4k and the induction roar is gorgeous, although with the standard can the exhaust tone is definately muted. The Triumph race pipes will definately sort that out though, come first service time.

Downsides - typical sportsbike stuff really. It's hard on the wrists and the mirrors are toss. There's no underseat storage (even the allen key and screwdriver toolkit is spread over both underseat comparments!) and given the size of the battery an optimate is definately a must for those not using the bike every day.

I can't wait for the registration to come back so that I can get on with the real business of running it in!

Thumbs Up

So where do we need to come to have a demo then?

Do the customers want their bikes now or are they waiting until March (better weather and an 06 plate) for delivery?

Your local Triumph dealer. Razz

I've spoken to one of the lucky 2 today and he is having his ASAP, the other one I've not managed to speak to yet. All of our other deposit holders are waiting for the 06 plate, and some dealers are waiting for that for their demo bikes.

Dam....I have a test ride booked for next Sat, thought I would be the first to put in a review! My dealer has the bike now but won't let me have it until it's run in.

My dealer has raved to me on the phone about it and this confirms what he has said, can't wait to get out on it!

cheers
