Hey

Just bought an Autocom unit from ebay the other day, basically im having trouble fitting it into my helmet securely.

I have a Suomy Gunwind which has some strange kind of lining inside it, basically the velcro on the back of the speakers does not stick to my lining, and the same goes for my foggy mask too - but anyway,

Was just wondering if anyone a) had any ideas, and b) could maybe post a pic of how they have theirs set up inside their lid?

Just to give me a rough idea of what i can do to sort mine out, and how it should look when its set up properly Laughing

Thanks!

If you give them a ring they'll be more than happy to help you out.

Autocom - 01926 431249

My suggestion would be to use some sticky tabs and try and attach behind the fabric to the actual inner of the helmet.

Stickyback velcro is pretty secure and only cost a couple of quid.

Autocom are in Warwick, near Birmingham. If you can get there, they will fit it for you free of charge.

I followed their recommended method. They said that on almost all helmets, the two cheek pieces pop out. They are not glued in, they are simply held in place by the chin piece liner. I found this to be true with my Craft RX9.

Re fitting the speakers, they told me to cut a slit in the lining of the cheek piece, and remove some foam from where the ear is, then insert the speaker into the gap you made. But you must work out the exact positon over the ear first.

I did this and the result is fantastic.

Cant realy sitck them to the actual back of the helmet, behind the lining, because i wont be able to hear them... unless i make a tear in the lining, slide them through the tear...

How thick is your lining? On my helmet where your ears go its just a thin mesh. I could hear quite loudly through that.

Find the space for you ears in the helmet, put the speakers in that space or attach to the foam directly behind it.

Works fine for me.
