it's the NS125R.

it is NOT AN NSR, don't go into shops saying that or you'll end up with completely the wrong bits.

look at pics of mine https://www.bikepics.com/members/neolyptic/93nsr125/ the frames are the same, IMO they're one of the best NS models they ever made

As far as I know the console for the NSR RK is built projecting from the fuel tank.

Hi

You bike is definatly an NS, not an NSR.

The picture above of the "Adriatico" version was a limited edition. Have a feeling was built for the Japanese market. Possibly has twin disks on the front (certainly possible in that picture).

The NS came out in the mid 1980s as the bikini faired F version with the R version (fully faired) coming out in the UK a few years later. They were sold in the UK until the early 1990s (alongside the NSR for a while).

Both your bike and the one with the Mito seat unit have aftermarket Allspeed exhausts on them.

The NS and NSR are very different bikes. NS has a steel frame, NSR has an alloy frame. Different bore and stroke. Different power valve set up (and UK NS did not have a power valve). NSR has a far larger brake disk. NS has a rear drum while the NSR has a rear disk. NS has a single headlight, the faired NSRs had twin headlights. NS was kick start, NSR was electric start (except for a very small number of SP versions).

All th ebest

Keith

keith got it all in one Very Happy

Don;t worry about it not having a Powervalve, you'll still find it's got a strong powerband that makes up for it

Hi

Allspeed exhausts were good. At the back there is a large circlip. Take this out and the baffle comes out for cleaning and repacking.

A power band is where the bikes makes power, generally with a 2 strokes coming in with a bit of a kick. A power valve is there to give the bike some low down power. Think of the exhaust working on pressure waves which travel at a fixed speed, and these bounce back towards the engine. If they arrive at the correct moment they bounce back from the engine again and suck the burnt gases from the engine, and at the wrong moment they shove the burnt gases back into the engine. Exhausts are set up so that at the fixed speed of the pressure wave they are doing their best to draw the gases out at the point where the designer wants peak power (ie, matched to the timing of the ports in the barrel). However as the gas is going at a fixed speed at about half those revs the exhaust has the opposite effect. Power valves are an attempt to salvage some low down and mid range power (which allows even more tuning for top end power without the bike becoming unrideable).

All the best

Keith
