 |
|
So I've now had my second accident, and my pristene CBR 125 bought from these forums is now going to need some repair work.
Two lanes of traffic, the lane on the right is turning right and has a few cars stuck behind someone waiting to turn. Guy in a Vectra decides not to wait and pulls out, thus putting him directly in my path since I'm coming up the left lane.
I brake. He brakes. I slide. He doesn't. I go down on my elbow and completely miss him. And yes, it went down bloody can side. Thankfully he stopped and from talking to him he was more shook up than me, heh. Bike still starts, managed to get to work on it.
He's given me his details and everything and I've got witnesses, but god seems to have a cruel sense of humour.
My CBT ran out 2 days ago and I completely forgot. *sigh* - I'm going to get shafted now aren't I.
Bollocks - crashing sucks. ____________________ Last bike - 2004 CBR 125 - Gone but not forgotten

Shit mate, never nice to hear of someone going down, least your OK though.
Try and sort it outside of insurance, perhaps blag it and say you'll take a couple of hundred quid for the damage, neither of you wants to lose your NCB etc.., should work out hopefully.

To be honest I would drop it and get the damage sorted when you can. It's not worth the risk of being caught for a couple of hundred quid. In the eyes of the law ignorance is no excuse. Put it down as experience.
Good luck. |

Sorry to hear about the crash
When I had mine and the old bill visited me, they never looked at my CBT certificate (not that there was anything wrong with it). A lot of coppers don't seem to know the rules regarding provisional licences, apart from the fact that you need to have L plates.
Good luck with the follow up..

Thanks all - I'm going to try and settle outside of insurance anyhow since the damage is generally minor - just an indicator and some holes in the fairing and a bent brake lever really.
It's funny how it hits you later - I was fine an hour after it happened, now I'm all over the place heh
Thanks again all

And get your CBT redone as quick as you can. Like tomorrow or at least this weekend. It might just get overlooked then, even if your insurance company asked for it, and it would certainly help with leniancy if you had to go to court. ____________________ Current bike: Kawasaki Z750S |

I am doing - sorting it now. What a bugger... gods way of reminding me. Thankfully I didn't actually hit him so insurance is avoidable.
Thanks for all your advice guys, it's a real wake up call. ____________________ Last bike - 2004 CBR 125 - Gone but not forgotten

Kickstart in StHelens do a cbt for £70 with bike hire and everything included. If you use your own bike, i'm sure you could haggle a tenner off.

Cheap, effective, and full of good advice. They are seasoned riders, and one is an ex-police rider.
