Just getting it out...
It shite man.
I am in a group doing web development (dreamweaver) and they are a useless bunch of tossers.
They dont have a clue what they are doing so its down to me to show them.
This woulde be fine if there was a secret Web development lecture that only I had access too but they run the same fucking lecture for the whole of our year. If I attended and learned what they showed us why the fuck cant they? why is it my responsibility to do most of the damn work because they dont know it?
With our groupwork we have to create a website and planning and design documents.
Now the first part, the planning happend well we all did our own bit (with one guy constantly asking me how to do his part) still it was early days. Then the second part comes around, then they are all asking me what to do. WE ALL SHOULD BE AT THE SAME FUCKING LECTURE then one lad does not do his part of the work and 40 mins before hand in I do his part and it gets an A. for which he does not thank me and just expected me to do it.
Still I didnt let the tutor know it was my work and he received his A grade for my cunting work.
Now the building of the website comes around. And I have done more than half of the work and there is 4 of us in the group.
First of all to do the work I have to meet up which means ME travveling to them to meet up and getting there and being bombarded with questions not being able to do anything because I know how to use the software.
It would be much fucking easier to do it myself than get these useless cunts to help.
I tell them to give files names a certain way and NOT TO CHANGE ANY FILE NAMES I HAVE MADE and they still do this.
If I did the whole site myself it would have taken half as long and not mean I was travveling loads of miles.
Then one guy turns up does a nominal amount of work and fucks off. And even then what he does do was a load of shite and we re-did it.
Im at my wits end I really feel like doing the page myself and fucking the rest of them off.
Then when the single project comes around my mate will be "want to come over so we can work on this web development" translation "I dont have a fucking clue what Im doing and need you to show me"
I dont mind to a point but when people dont learn any more plus I am just doing what I have been shown in the lecture. Not like I have had a massive prior experiance before uni anyways. |

My girlfriend had the same problems earlier this year. Group work sounds like bollocks to me, especially when it's used to grade you.
It's all well and good to be pushing you to work with other people seeing as most jobs after uni will involve you managing people. But to grade you down as an individual because everyone else couldn't be bothered and are only there because they want to put off getting a job
Rick. |

Hi mate,
Did say this in messenger, but not sure if you're replying.
When I did NCFE Webdesign it was full of sponging cunts as well.
Your lecturers have probably already noticed this and are giving you brownie points.
Put it this way, I did my 1 year course for 2 months, helped everyone else out, answered peoples questions after a session sometimes and went around helping people. The teachers noticed it.
That's probably why after I left the course early (2 months in) I received my qualification through the post |

Whilst at Teeside Uni, I spent most of my time at the Star & Garter, Dickens Inn or Union Bar.
Lectures were for geeks |

Interesting point, when i went to Bristol at the weekend to see my bro and hes in a situation very simular to your
He got a 3 person group work and it him, one of his flat mates (who does work) and a girl that isnt do anything and going to screw them over.
They decided to take it up with the lecturer as felt it was unfair they should suffer because this girl cant be bothered and when she does do anything its not up to standard.
I agreed that they were doing the right thing and think you should bring it up with your lecturer  ____________________ 99 RS125 --> 02 SV650s --> 03 Speed Four --> 92 RXS100 --> 93 CB400sf --> 01 CB600f Hornet |

Like Rick said, I have been in a problem quite similar to yours, I was in a group of 6, I am studying pharmacy but I never did biology alevel so have been finding it quite hard as this was a biology module. We had 4 weeks to do an essay and give a lecture to the rest of our year. I worked really hard to get my section sorted only to find the day before it had to be handed in that the rest had done nothing. I didn't want to risk losing my score so I stayed up all night doing theirs too. We then had to fill in a form about the other people in our group saying whether we thought they had contributed well. I thought that because these people were my friends I wouldn't bad mouth them too much but make sure it's known that I did the work. When it came round to it, they screwed up the lecture because they hadn't seen what they were reading before and I got a lower mark then them
Still got an A over all but they had a higher A if you know what i mean.
It's a crap way of marking and examining us. It's just a waste of time and energy.

Which year is it? On my final year, the group projects were very obviously split up into individual responsibilities, and it was pretty damned obvious is someone had been underperforming. They (lecturers) encouraged us to let them know if people hadn't been pulling their weight, but expected us to be able to sort it out on our own, seeing them as a last resort.
It mostly depends how seriously the lecturers take things, whether they see teaching as an inconvenient necessity to be able to do their research, or whether they teach because they want to. Some group projects could just be done by one person and no-one would be the wiser, but mostly the less important ones. If it is the first or second year of your course, there will still be people there who shouldn't be there either because they are too lazy or because they are incapable of doing the work. Once you move on further, they'll not be there, and that is their lookout.
Mostly, lecturers will be sympathetic to you if you tell them what problems you are having with group members. If they don't really care about teaching or their students, they'll fob you off and tell you that you should sort it out yourselves. Sometimes it is better off that you just stick to your guns and drop someone in the shit; the only problem is when the lecturers expect you to have still done the work anyway, no matter what problems you had and mark you down just the same.
Isn't uni fun? ____________________ I must not be a troll...

I'm in my first year of five, it will be a lot better once the time wasters have dropped out because they can't cope with getting off their backside.
