Hi,

I know I've posted this before, but my criteria has kind of changed.

I'm looking for a bike that's:

Arrow A good first bike
Arrow Comfortable
Arrow Good for carrying a tailpack/luggage
Arrow Got a decent enough engine for fun
Arrow Reliable

I like the GSX600F, but looking for alternatives.

Thanks,

Toby

Hornet.

SV650.

That Kawasaki thing... err.. ER6F.

only three choices that fit those criteria IMO.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Good choice looking for an alternative to the gsx600f, problem there is you need a very long extension lead to get anywhere!

i rode about 20 bikes b4 i got a big bike.
i liked the gsx600f least out of the lot

bazza has one tho and he likes it

you can get a thundercat for similar money.
if insurance is the issue, maybe the sv650 as mentioned, or a 400 wd be good, or about a big trail bike or supermoto ?

some might suggest the gpz500

Suzuki RF600? Ultimate development of GSX600F, but watercooled engine, evolved into GSXR600 in 1996.

Honda CBR600F M-R? The daddy of the 600's.

Yamaha YZF600R Thundercat?

Yamaha FZR600 Genesis?

There all moderately comfortable, fun and above all reliable.
However you can do no more wrong than buy a GSX600F, good honest little bikes, and with them having the bottom end and gearbox from the GSX-R750 then reliability is excellent

Oh and shouldn't this be in GBC not OT?

cbr600f, no problems for comfort (perhaps a DB screen)
economical enough.....
easy to carrie panniers/tailpack/tankbag
class engine for those hmmm "national speed limit applies" moments. -------140mph later you discover the brakes arnt the best, but im sure if i get new disks/ disk brake slime stuff itl help

yea look out for dodgy regulator/rectifier, and a noisey cam chain tensioner, and some have a few wiring shorts in ignition, but most of this stuff is easily fixed.

Everyone happens to mention the hornet. What you have to remember is that the slightly older ones (2001 and before) have a 100 mile tank range. Bloody useless for touring. On the sv I got a good 130 no problem.

Bandit, hornet, sv, gsxf the normal 600/650's will be reliable enough anyway. No real problems with the engines. Hornet has by far the better engine/chassis for fun. Haven't had a bandit but I know it wouldn't be as much 'fun' as the hornet. Hornet, bandit, gsxf, sv all comfy enough.

It all comes down to cosmetics really and what your priorities are. I had to get rid of the hornet becasue of the tank range. It was an utter pain in the arse. Fun, fun bike but that was it's real down point. Fun and honda don't usually go together as well. Wink
