R&G bungs

R&G list a set of bungs for a GSXR k1-k3, which I have on my K1 Gixxer. They also list a set for K4 and K5 bikes. It's a different part number. I was in Hein Gericke and I asked the guys if the K1 bungs would fit the K4 bike. They said they wouldn't due to something or other (can't remember - sounded technical). Anyway, I had a look at my bikes and the engine bolts in the K1 are the same as in the K4. I took the bungs out the K1 and stuck them in the K4 and they seem fine.

I'm a bit puzzled why R&G list different ones for the 2 bikes. Any idea why this would be? Anyone have a set for a K4 who could measure them for a comparison?

Well, I have a K4 and the bungs are listed to fit a K3 or K4. So I doubt if they will fit a K5/6. Easiest option is to call R&G direct: 01420 521100

The engine bolts for both bikes were exactly the same, length, diameter, thread, the lot. Just seems odd that there are 2 listed if this is the case. Do the bungs stick out more on the K4 or something?

Slightly OT, but bungs that stick out more aren't always a good thing, they tend to do more thread damage to the mounting. (It's why club racers shorten them)

Maybe they've made some subtle changes to the strength/crash properties of the new crash bungs?

Perhaps because the newer bikes weigh less or something.

Just phoned R&G and the girl said the bolts on the crash bungs are different. Seems a bit odd to me, seeing as the bolts that came out both bikes are the same. Confused

I bought the ones for the K4. While there is a slight difference in the Bobbins, I wouldn't say it was enough to affect the use of them. The bolts in both bikes are exactly the same. Confused
