Visor question, race visor with posts?

I've just got a new helmet and am gonna get a race visor for it. Just wondered what the difference between a normal visor is and a visor with posts?

The helmet is an AGV Stealth. And the different visors:

Black Race Visor (Anti Fog/Anti Scratch with posts)

If i am not wrong i think it is for if you have strips that you can take off when you are on the track. Like

As mentioned, I expect it's for 'tear offs'. Not really worth it unless you're an international or endurance racer.

Yup that is the word i was looking for G , if i was you get a visor with Pinlock for sure, best thing since siced bread.

As you can see from the image blow, anything in the middle does not steam up only around the middle pinlock will get steamed up:

Worth noting that the Arai visors with tear-off posts are slightly different in shape (squarer across the front) to accommodate the tear-offs. Along with the posts it's said they generate a fair bit of extra wind noise, as well as making it stiffer to open and shut the visor.

Oh and I actually found the pinlock insert in my X-Lite X901 quite annoying. Where I'd naturally be looking for sports riding the upper ridge of the pinlock would be in the way, distorting the view. Nice to have the option to use it for commmuting etc though.

I've been looking at getting a dark visor for my AGV lid ready for the spring/summer. The lid is a V-Flyer Mad Dog

So I guess it's either a road legal dark tint but not sure if the tint will be dark enough to be worthwhile, or take the plunge and get a black race visor (and of course carry my clear visor at all times, honest officer)??

The V flyer visors are expensive though, I had a road legal iridium
on my old one and it was about 50 notes. Was quite good though. It had the usual 'anti fog coating' but it was, to be blunt, dog shite at best.

I use a shoei with the pinlock system, and its absolutely brilliant.

As with every one above, the pinlock system is excellent, so good that i have just bought a new black visor with the pinlock system attached. I have a shoei aswell.

Nope the pinlock visor is available for a few helmets, have a look on www.racevisors.co.uk they have a lot of visors on there, for most helmets.

Im thinking get the AGV GT Black from racevisors.co.uk. Anyone had an experience of that particular one? Offshoremotorcycleparts have an AGV Q3 visor Race Black but its another £3, im wondering what the difference is?

Of course there's ebay, could keep a look out on there once I know for definate which one I want.

I tried tearoffs on my arai years ago. Tore emm all off after about 5 miles on the motorway. The loose ends of the tearoff flap about like mad, its like having an angry wasp next to your ear!. If you tape em down then you cant tear em off.
