Some of you may be aware that put a deposit down on a new Daytona 675 months ago. Friday i got a call to say the bike had arrived, I was extremely excited at this news and began to sort out a loan and insurance immediately.
I had another phone call today to say the bike wasn’t meant for the dealership and triumph have taken it back.
I am externally peed off, I now have a loan gathering interest, a friend who’s taken a day off work, and insurance information.
Just thought I would let you know I’m in a really bad mood tonight. And I’m going to try and test ride a R6 at the weekend.

Hi,

It's a shame (but it was too tall for me anyway) and it had been outside and may have dirt on it.

Good luck with the R6 test ride

Go to Hinkley and demand your Daytona!

Your not that far away, and if that doesn't work go and camp outside and wait for John Bloor to come to work and tell him how pissed off you are and that you'll be taking your custom back to Honda. Wink

That should tell him. Razz

Personally,

I wouldn't write off the Triumph just because someone made a mistake. Sure I realise you've arranged a loan etc. Stick it in your bank account.

It will be worth the wait for the Daytona 675. You have been going on about one for over a year!

Seriously J I wouldn't go and buy a bike that I don't really want just because the delivery driver cocked up. Not least for the fact that a month down the line you could really really regret it.

That's the dealerships fault for telling you it was ready before checking with the factory.

I'd be talking to the manager of the dealership about a little bit more discount off your purchase or some rather nice goodies thrown in for free when you come to collect it.

Failing that, tell me what the R6 is like, won't you mate???!!! Wink Laughing Cool

work it to your favour...

demand that they throw in a Cat 1 alarm and seal crowl and few little things like that and explain about the loan etc and how it put you out

You never know this could be your way to £200-300 worth of extra esp when they get them cost price and know it will keep you happy

Good luck Thumbs Up

i bet your disapointed mate, but look for the silver lining! id have to agree with the ask for extras ideas, theres little chance of a discount on the bike i would have thought and extras are the obvious choice. write the dealer a non angry and polite letter explaining your position and how you intended to use them for future servicing and accesories e.t.c and how you feel they should accomidate you for putting you out like this blah blah blah (you get the picture) alarm/imobilisor, factory race can maybe could be blagged if you play your cards right, worth the extra intrest on the loan if you can swing it!

I work at the dealer in question and I would just like to clear up a couple of points.

Quote:

The bike arrived in exactly the same way as any other bike delivery does. We do not get told in advance that bikes are being delivered, they just arrive. It is not uncommon for bikes to be delivered early either, the Rocket's were 2 months earlier than they originally announced. There was no reason for us to 'check with the factory'.

The first we knew of any problem was when the delivery company arrived yesterday morning to collect the bike. We checked with Triumph and told them the situation with both Jay and the other deposit holder who would of been in line for a bike that was going back, and at first they agreed to let us keep them. They then called back and told us that they both had to go back.

Quote:
..get free stuff...

I have already told Jay that I will sort something out for him, whether that is accessories, servicing or just a free McDonalds Extra Value meal.

We are very annoyed at this, it has made us look like a bunch of twats because someone at Triumph got carried away with the address labels and then didn't bother telling us.

Jay, again I offer my sincere apologies. I really hope that this doesn't sour the experience too much, although I will completely understand if you do cancel your order in favour of the R6. Karma

I can see how pissed off you'd be, I know what it's like to have to wait a week for a new bike let alone few months. I'd go out and test ride all the new 600's to get a feel for performance and looks. Then ask the dealer for a test ride on the 675 demo they have in just to make sure you're doing the right thing and set your mind to rest.

TBH you're just paying the loan off earlier than expected if you were really going to go ahead with a purchase anyway.

you have to look at it logically, which I why I never see the point of personal boycotts or cancelling orders.

At the end of the day, Triumph is a big company and the demand for the 675 out strips supply. If you don't buy it, someone will be in there biting the salesman's hand off to get it.
It looks like a fantastic bike, if you decide to go get an R6 instead because of this the only person being affected is you. You'd be cutting your nose off to spite your face.

Take the extra freebies for the inconvenience, you should do alright, I bet mcjamweasel will sort you out Thumbs Up

My apologies, usually in car dealerships they're sent and handed out once the UK importer has said yes its ok (usually why you see cars that aren't meant to be on the road are given to good customers early, there were some Honda Civics that went that way recently)

Obviously coming direct from the factory the bod in charge of distribution has made an almighty fuck up! I can see why you lot at the dealership were pissed off too. Will it put Jay and the other customer further up the line for delivery because of the cock-up McJam? I'd have thought good PR for Triumph would have seen this happen.

I bought the latest PB today and there is information in there how to bypass the airbox flap that is for noise regs...

Asterisk in PB review wrote:
Pinch the vacuum hose off after the solenoid, but before the valve, right between the headlights and you'll have a wide open airbox all day long.

They also said that the bike rocks in the corners and on the road. They said it *might* be a few tenths off of a laptime but it will pwn the corners and Triumph say the bike has a measured lean angle of 57 degrees! Shocked Shocked Shocked

Buy it buy it! Thumbs Up

With them being our first ones anyway, indeed some of the very first in the country they couldn't really be any further up the queue.

The Triumph tune that goes with the race can does the same.

That bike has sick peg height. I'm sure that tyres would lose traction before peg down unless you were on track, or bloody bloody good. I dont think you'd need reatsets.

Thats really shitty about having your bike taken away from you. Hopefully you'll be able to blag a free service and a few extras for your troubles.

Dude, if you've wanted it for over a year, dont get an R6. You might be angry about the situation, but I think you'll seriously not regret having one when you see them out in force on the roads Thumbs Up

Test rode a 675 from Windy Corner on monday, and an R6 from Arnolds in Coalville on Saturday and my opinion is, get the 675! The R6 has so little midrange its crazy, the 675 is immense everywhere that it counts. To me the 675 is just a more exciting machine, it looks fantasic, it corners on rails and sounds amazing. the R6 is good too, but theres no contest for me.

On a race track the R6 may pull out a second or so on the 675, In every other situation in the world the 675 rocks, and i dont know about you but i spend 99.9999999% of my time on the road.
