Hi there!
Im trying to get this bike back on the road.
So far ive changed the oil, cleaned the tank and carb and the electrics are good. But now the starter motor doesnt work.
NOTE: Please excuse my lack of actual names for the parts.
OK, to check it: i took it off the bike, unscrewed the sheath bit which covered the thing with copper wiring on it that spins.
BUT then that copper spinny bit came out, and through utter stupidity and lack of actual understanding i tried to put it back in but the two little cube bits with springs behind them were in the way, so i attempted to hold them back with a small screwdriver, which in-turn has broken one of them and scratched the other one to shit.
Apparently these bits are called 'Brushes'?
Can anyone tell me if i can buy these bits individually? if so, where and how much?
OR will i have to buy a new starter motor?
Ahhh i love learning from my mistakes. ____________________ Have ya ever drunk Baileys from a shoe? IM OLD GREGG!!! |

Hi
Not sure how easy they are to get for the RS50, but they are fairly standard pieces on most bikes so you should be able to get something suitable.
Possibly easiest to try the local place that does car alternator / starter motor reconditioning. They can probably sort it for you cheaply. By the way, the starters on them are not known for lasting that long.
All the best
