General questions about break down recovery and insurance:
#1 how much is it worth (Carol nash quote was +£100 more than any other quote for general insurance but included EU cover and break down)
#2 where else can I get it from? I've contacted 3 companies from the back of an autotrader and they say £70 for hotel+repatriation+repairs etc.
Any thoughts?

To give you some idea of what you get for the money...
I had a blow out on the French Autoroute. The cost for recovery from the autoroute (mandatory) was 165 Euros. You must add to this the recovery to a local bike shop (from where you are first recovered to) - 150 Euros. So that is 315 Euros which I would not have spent had I had breakdown cover.
Having said that, I regularly travel and do not buy RAC cover. This is usually around £100 for each trip. So in total, even with the misfortune this time, I am still about £600 better off than I would have been had I always had cover. I don't really see the benefit unless you have a vehicle you don't trust.
Incidentally it was my own daft fault the tyre blew, it was low when I left and I forgot to check it when I stopped in the south of France on my way home. After 12hrs of motorway ridiing (and 1000 miles) its always worth checking. Ho-hum. ____________________ Travelling around the world...a bit at a time. Where am I now? / Visit my BLOG
