So the 'Cat has had all necessary work done to it, I spent a few hours riding it round this morning. It was a proper hoot. Mr. Green

The only thing left doing is the throttle and grips. Basically there are no grips on it because the previous ones were a present for ThunderSteve, and they were heated. Fair enough! However the problem is that the throttle cable has gotten seized, and I only get a very small amount of movement. This means I have virtually no power. It's good since I'm just starting out on a very powerful machine, but I can't go above 60mph. Laughing

Also, when it's in neutral, it idles at about 3k, which I assume is too high, and it doesn't stay there. It just revs up all the way to the redline, though I haven't let it get there yet. I've been solving this when riding by keeping it in first and on the biting point when stopped, but it probably isn't doing any favours to the clutch.

Is this all due to the seized throttle cable? And does anyone know how much it will cost to replace, and how tricky it is to fit?

Much obliged. Smile Thumbs Up

Could also be todo with the throttle return cable if it has one?

Probably one of them stuck under the tank or against the frame..

Not difficult to fit them tbh, idleing is set by a turney nob on the bottom of the carb i''d imagine

Throttle cables (well any of them) are expensive, £20 wouldn't supprise me... i'd reccomend giveing the inner a big load of copper slip, even better is controll cable lubericant, or graphite spray Thumbs Up

Take apart the whole throttle grip on the handlebars and have a nosey too!

I did this with mine, found there was loads of crap stuck in it, gave it a clean and sprayed teflon lube down the cable.

Seems to be sorted now.

It seems to be freeing up to some degree, I can get to 80mph now. Laughing

It does have a return cable I think, Mr.Z, it's a set of 2 cables.

Now I'll leave this one be and go write about the other problem I'm having! Laughing

I'd be tempted to whip the tank off, check the cable path & around the carbs. (make sure nothing obstructing the throttle & all carbs are sealed ok).

My R6 had a similar problem, turns out a bit of gravel (from my crash at Brands Hatch got lodged under the throttle rail, and jammed the throttle 1/2 open. Shocked

If you want a hand, give us a shout.

He's a long long way from you Davo!!

I'd check the carbs, slides might be jammed open or something. And I'd whip the throttle cable off, get the inner out, douse it in stuff. (I choose light oil, but whatever).

Just have a general nose around. I suspect it's somethign quite obvious.
