Clunking gearbox

Just recently I've noticed that when I change gear I'm getting quite a noisey *cuurlunk*between Neutral->First->Second. It doesn't happen all the time, sometimes everything slots in smooth but 95% of the time I'm left wincing at the noise

I've checked wheel alignment, chain tension and the clutch cable and they all seem within tolerance. When I had the wheel off last I noticed the chain had a few tight spots in (it had been left outside over winter) would this cause noisey gear change?

could do, if the chain is tightening up at the point you change gear. Get a new chain and sprocket kit fitted and keep it lubed

Maybe the clutch plates need changing.

check oil level
When it gets low on my FZR gear changes between these gears get loud and clunky. Which reminds me.... i must do an oil change

Hi, as many have already said, it sounds like a simple clutch problem. Give it some fresh oil and check the clutch plates etc... Dan
